Teleios evaluated measures that could affect wellbeing of children specifically using the top 50 countries from the Human Freedom Index compared to the 50 top countries persecuting Christianity from the Open Doors World Watch List. Children in free countries, which are historically Christian, demonstrate better wellbeing and associated with numerous legal, security, health, and educational measures potentially associated with enhanced wellbeing for children.

While evil people who abuse children exist in every society, the Judeo/Christian society has certain mandates that exist from as far back as the Law of Moses. These have become integrated into our ethical system, and even non-believers benefit. Here are just a few scriptures off the top of my head:

James 1:27 - Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, [and] to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Exodus 22:22 - Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.

1 John 3:17 - But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels [of compassion] from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

Matthew 5:7 - Blessed [are] the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Deuteronomy 24:19 - When thou cuttest down thine harvest in thy field, and hast forgot a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hands.

Here is something about how we should treat the disabled:

Leviticus 19:14

“Thou shalt not curse the deaf, nor put a stumbling block before the blind, but shalt fear thy God: I am the LORD.”

And, of course, this famous one:

5And whoever welcomes a little child like this in My name welcomes Me. 6But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. 7Woe to the world for the causes of sin. These stumbling blocks must come, but woe to the man through whom they come!…

And so, even if these are not codified into civil law, they are part of our centuries-old culture.

Remember the times that the Chinese thought that SONS were the only worthwhile children to have? They DISCARDED, literally, any female baby.
And, when amniocentesis was discovered they aborted all the female fetus.
Now THAT is misogny..

The repercussions were discovered that poor Chinese men could find NO wives. Rich men could buy all the wives they wanted but poor men were left to rot.
The Chinese labeled those men "bare branches."

Then they also had the ONE CHILD policy. Parents discarded any female.

I have no idea what they do now.
Christianity was the FIRST faith that had a WOMAN as part of God's Plan for our salvation: Mary.

There are some poor, misbegotten souls on this site that think that Catholics WORSHIP Mary. But that only brings to light their abysmal IGNORANCE about the Catholic faith. We honor her as the mother of our Savior. That is it.
Sometimes we pray to her to ask for favors. But, that is not, I repeat, not worshiping her. Only the VERY backward anti-Catholics would think that.

Some Muslim women pray to Mary to ask her for a son. Nothing wrong with asking...and Mary asks her Father, OUR Father, for that favor. The Muslims know that Mary gave birth to a Son and WHAT a Son.

If an anti-Catholic wanted to know a prayer to her they need only "Google" the "Hail Mary" prayer of the Catholics. They'll see that there is NO "worship" there.
However, most anti-Catholics WON'T go there...they might have a mind change...and heaven help them if they do. :o)
