Oh LORD, Our God,
How Excellent Is Your Name Over All the Earth!

Honor, Glory and Worship,
For Your Alone Are The One True God!
Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent,
Holy Righteous, and Just,
There is No One Like You!

And All Of Creation Vibrates With Singing of Your Glory!

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.

We Pray For Our President,
And other Leaders of Our Beloved USA
May They Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

There is a riddle that has its roots in Buddhism..."What is the sound of one hand clapping?" Well, the answer, mine at least, is "The Sound of Silence". As a person who has spent more than a half-century doing music in one form or another, that would be a real horror for me! There is nothing worse than playing to an empty room.

The "South Shore Music Community" is not a club with dues or membership rolls. It is just a bunch of people who love music and go to various bars and restaurants to hear each other play. From Quincy to the Cape-Cod Canal, dozens of places have "open-mike-nites", and the same groups of people, with variations, go from place to place to participate. Everybody knows everybody, and it doesn't seem to matter if the music is really good or...not. Musicians are made aware or each others' gigs via social media, and they support each other by attending the actual concerts and gigs of their friends and companions. Musicians don't get the same rate for hosting an open-mike-nite" as they would for a regular gig, but the friendship, camaraderie, and applause makes it worthwhile.

Well, of course, the draconian virus lock-down has directly affected these normal, middle-class, hard-working, and honest people. No matter how much our friends have tried with podcasts, at-home streaming concerts, social media, Zoom, Skype, and Facetime, it just isn't the same. The Social Media Giants zotted the on-line open-mike because of copyright violations. Zoom and Skype make you look awful, and the tinny sounds squawking out of a smart phone are no substitute for live music. And, of course, no matter how hard you clap, it's not the same as live applause. It's kind of like "The Sound Of One Hand Clapping". Not fun. Since the State is opening up in "stages", restaurants and taverns will be the last to open up. It is unlikely that anyone will be hiring musicians, with restricted seating and "social distancing". It may be that this phase of Musical life will never recover. It's sad.

Applause is the way we show our approval, affection, and even awe. We applaud after a pilot lands his plane safely after frightening turbulence. We applaud when a soloist plays something that seems impossible. We applaud after the Groom gives his Bride their first wedded kiss. I have even gone to performances where the audience applauds the set design as the curtain opens on the first act.

This word for applause also has warlike connotations, as to "strike a blow". We are indeed is a Spiritual War, and our weapons are not of the flesh. Our PRAYERS are our weapons, and this one is a particularly powerful one!

Speaking of prayer, please remember LTC Allen West today, as he has been in a motorcycle accident. I have no more information, but will try to find out more as the day goes by.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America!

We pray in particular on behalf of our brothers and sisters in Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Libya and throughout the Mideast. The members of the oldest of our Christian Communities, some of which date from the days of the Apostles, suffer under cruel, merciless and unrelenting persecution. They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors, we are all "Nazarenes."
