Employees pay income taxes.
This is completely outrageous. These so-called preachers can fleece their own flux, not the taxpayers, to pay their bills.
Scum.
As a sincere Christian I agree that churches should not have been eligible for these loans.
We are not businesses.
I’m surprised Osteen’s cash cow is considered a church.
Umm.... why? It is a loan. Which means that they will pay it back.
My church has not applied for any money but we do run a food bank and other charities. We occasionally are offered grants and such to help with these endeavors.
Are we suppose to turn them down because we are a church rather then a 501-c3?
1 Timothy 6
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
He’s polticially connected. He got a sweetheart deal on the Summit (later named Compaq Center).
What kind of landlord (the city of Houston and corrupt land dealing mayors) gave exclusive sports and concert staging to some company that held those interests on the city owned Toyota Center? The tenants don’t get to dictate what you can or cannot do with your other properties.
Anus Pucker sold it off cheaply because she said it couldn’t be used for concerts or sports because of that clause.
>>Umm.... why? It is a loan. Which means that they will pay it back.
Ummm, no
These “loans” were agreements not to fire people (keeping them gainfully employed) and if you met those conditions the loans would be forgiven.
We are not businesses.
I disagree. Church staff are employees, just like employees in businesses.
Our little church lives on a shoestring, without many reserves of any kind. When giving drops off, people go without pay. This is exactly what the PPP was intended to protect against.
And they said Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker were sleazy?
In his defense,he hasn’t taken any salary since 2004 and the church employs about 350 people.
He’s just being loyal to them.
Maybe Joel Osteen could fork over some of his booty to help take care of the church. I do not believe Jesus intended for the leaders of the church to be RICH!
Osteen himself is estimated to have a net worth of over $50 million, with his church taking in $43 million a year in collections.
Half of the people who received checks didn’t pay any income taxes either.
PPP - Paycheck Protection Program.
Churches have payrolls.
Church employees pay taxes, have families and bills just like everyone else.
I wonder how much Reverend AL’s flock received?
Why not? Rich is not evil.
The majority of his money comes from the books he writes which no one is forced to buy.
Just because he is a pastor is he not suppose to collect his royalties?
This guy is a fraud. He is no good. Money grubbing dirt bag.
