Some gorgeous music here for Christmas.
Enjoy!
“Bach” is the name we gave our Mini Schnauzer. :-)
I’m certain Johann’s ghost would get Bach to hound you about that decision. :-) You better be Haydn when he shows up, unless you feel you can Handel it.
Well, I have my Liszt ready, and about to go out to do some last minute Christmas Chopin.
Best ad lib post of the day, I expect!
Thanks!!!
Thanks!
Why Thank You! I was inspired by my friend Jacques, who left me long ago, but he was Offenbach. :-)
My Pleasure! Merry Christmas! :-)
Also check out “Magnificat in D” and “Christmas Oratorio” (both by Bach).
Fabulous stuff!
Thanks!
I have been going through all of Bach’s Cantatas, and I am enjoying them IMMENSELY! :-)
There is a channel on YouTube I visit frequently called the "Netherlands Bach Society" that has a large number of Bach performances in stunning audio and video quality. A real top-notch production.
I hope that channel becomes available on Rumble soon so I'll have another reason to leave YouTube for good. Rumble is an alternative to YouTube but they still have a way to go before they can offer anywhere near the sheer amount of content that YouTube has.
Thanks for posting!
I LOVE the Netherlands Bach Society! They use period instruments and a smaller choir to get an absolutely wonderful effect. Some of their tempi are a little different than what I am used to, but I find that I like the interpretation much better. They seem to have a very intimate emotional connection to the music, especially in Cantata 140’s “Zion hoft”, which I found ENCHANTING.
Maestro Lutz is also an awesome interpreter of Bach, and his group in Switzerland does workshops on the spiritual aspects of the Cantatas which I also enjoy.
I wish that Rumble had this kind of content.
I am so glad that I am not the only one who loves this stuff. I guess I’m not such a geek after all! LOL
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Listening to Magnificat in D interpreted by the Netherlands Choral Society, right now. Thanks for the tip.

Nice use of composers names. And btw my wife actually grew up in Offenbach.
Ahh, thanks for the reminder of this horrid year: the Washington Bach Consort canceled the live performance season.
There will be a youtube live on Christmas Day of the Christmas Oratorio: https://bachconsort.org/bach-interactions-calendar/
LOL!
