Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo., defended saying “amen and awoman” after his opening prayer in Congress this week after being mocked online.
Cleaver told the Kansas City Star said he did not expect to be made fun of for the “lighthearted pun,” which was really just an an attempt to recognize “the record number of women who will be representing the American people in Congress during this term,” he said.

“And dare I ask, oh Lord, peace even in this chamber now and evermore,” Cleaver said Sunday as he wrapped up Sunday’s blessing while serving as guest House chaplain. “We ask it in the name of the monotheistic god, Brahma, and God known by many names by many different faiths. Amen and awoman.”

I interpreted it to mean that Emmanuel Cleaver is too stupid to understand where “Amen” even comes from. Was my interpretation niggardly? This stuff is no picnic!

No, Manny, we get it. It’s called lack of respect for the religion you profess, in favor of respecting the politically correct wokeness that the Liberal party has unapologetically embraced.
Personally I don’t see a) the need to “recognize” female members of Congress thusly, or b) the “lighthearted pun” ... especially given the fact that it is the wrong moment to do either.
P.S. Has he been denigrated by the ultra-woke left yet for inappropriate gender references? Didn’t Aunt Nancy just pass a rule that you were not to use gender language in the House?
