Psalm 146

Praise the Lord!

Praise the Lord, O my soul! While I live I will praise the Lord; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

Do not put your trust in princes, Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help. His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; In that very day his plans perish.

Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, Whose hope is in the Lord his God, Who made heaven and earth, The sea, and all that is in them; Who keeps truth forever, Who executes justice for the oppressed, Who gives food to the hungry. The Lord gives freedom to the prisoners.

The Lord opens the eyes of the blind; The Lord raises those who are bowed down; The Lord loves the righteous. The Lord watches over the strangers; He relieves the fatherless and widow; But the way of the wicked He turns upside down.

The Lord shall reign forever— Your God, O Zion, to all generations.

Praise the Lord!

When Christians are faced with ADVERSITY we are challenged to `turn toward God` with trust, hope, praise and prayer. We understand from Psalm 62:8 that we are to trust Him at ALL TIMES - and pour our hearts before Him because God is a refuge for us.

In adversity accept the challenge to trust in God and turn towards Him for our help, in the name of Christ Jesus.

Interestingly, the Latin root word for Adversity is: "turn toward".

For some reason, Psalm 137:1-4 resonates with me right now.

Those words resonate with many at this time and in Psalm 22:1-2 we cry out in anguish to the, Lord. But then in verses 3-4 we are reminded that worship and praise, trust and prayer have delivered God’s people.

If there was ever at time to draw near to God...this is it.

All these events are exactly what we should expect to see when the season of the return of Christ approaches. Gods answer to our prayers were not as we hoped but I still have faith in him and I know that as evil as our country has become it will not lessen my faith in Christ. I pray now only that I live to see him arrive.

God bless you and keep you...

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38-39
