What should a Christian do if the ruler of the land is not following God’s law?
1) refrain doe speaking evil about him. 2) Remind God of his promise in Proverbs 21:1 in prayer and supplication.
It is not our battle. Be salt and light and gracious. Pray that God has mercy on this nation and the changes the hearts of those in power.
Stranger things have happened.
If your goal is to defend him, call on the Christian to not pass judgment. If your goal is justice, call them on it.
Ephesians 6:12
For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood; but against principalities and power, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places.
Expose them at every turn.
What good is salt, if the salt loses its saltiness?
What good is light, if the light is undr a basket?
Salt flavors, but it also can sting. Light illuminates, and exposes the darkness.
Saying the truth about them is not speaking ill about them.
Preach it.
I pray that they would either accept Christ and be converted or that God would remove them from positions of authority.
Also that they would make decisions that would do good they did not intend. and that God would confuse their counsels to plot and do evil and expose them.
I don't know how long it takes to braid a whip, but I'm pretty sure it's a little longer than counting to ten.
Jesus got up sand deliberately went in wailing against the money changers ( you don't whip money or doves ..... you whip people )
I personally believe the upset tables were collateral damage, because the sin in the sinner is the aim .
Scripture teaches us that God will chasten people
Do what Ehud did to the evil King Eglon in Judges 3:15-30.
Refer to American history circa 1775.
Colonial-era pastors preached the Word; then went out and shot redcoats.
Do we fear God or Man? It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of a living God.
My comments and prayers put him in God’s hands.
Salt and Light we are to be. We should call out the corrupt practices and leave the execution of judgment to the Lord.
This is not letting someone off lightly. Rather it is invoking God’s promises that He will deal with the situation. We are just expected to or better afraid and speak up.
And. It being afraid means of COVID too...
The American Christian has no government ruler. The president, senators, congressmen, judges, and governors are NOT our rulers (though they sometimes sound and act as if they were). They are the elected or appointed representatives of We the People, who ordained and established this Constitution for the United States.
We the People are citizens of the United States; we are not the subjects of the United States.
Speaking evil does not mean criticize.
John the Baptist said it was not lawful for Herod to have his brother’s wife. The prophets also criticized leaders.
So to speak evil would mean more to insult personally or falsely. To criticize evil behaviors and words is ABSOLUTELY the role of the Christian.
Let me define what speaking evil means in biblical terms (not popular culture)
Speaking evil is to for example, advocate doing evil things...like murder.
BTW, in a revolution, it is a war.
there is a difference between murder and killing.. Probably no need to explain why.
Resist and undermine them in every way you can think of. If that turns out to be a sin, it’s just more proof of my sinful nature and why I needed a redeemer.
Exactly. God uses the people to pick a ruler in the United States.
There are several legal ways for the people to remove one they do not approve of.
The Ruling class is defying God by cheating on the elections.
I should have said choose a government rather than “pick a ruler”. The people are sovereign here, under God.
We are ruled by the constitution and not a man.
My allegiance is to the law not to traitors or tyrants.
“Jesus got up sand deliberately went in wailing against the money changers”
Plus he told the Pharisees exactly what they were, that they were of their father the devil. All the prayer in the world wouldn’t change them. But when dealing with such people, in those cases we can pray for God’s protection against them.
THAT means ... God blessed, or at least sanctioned ... the second amendment .... which has nothing to do with prayer.
Agreed.
