No the Pashtun peoples are a sub group of Iranian. Think Babylonia if you want to go back in history.
The Arabs are completely different and actually not thrilled about the recent developments.
Now, the worst parts of Arab culture has arguably taken over many Islamic peoples (not all). So you might be thinking of that.
FWIW, I’m Israeli. This is local news.
“The Biblical record of Ishmael gives us the names of the 12 sons, but no clue as to how they might be connected to the modern Bedouin Tribes. This list is given to us in Genesis 25 and is later repeated in I Chronicles 1:29-33.
‘And these are their generations: the first-born of Ishmael, Nebaioth, then Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam, Mishma, and Dumah, Massa, Hadad, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah. These are the sons of Ishmael.’”

It’s a murky picture, but between the unclear history of the descendants of the 12 tribes of Ishmael, God’s pronouncement that they shall be “wild” and always fighting against everybody, and the pervasiveness of Islam among them, there’s a good chance that is where these bloody killers come from.
Also remember, as a believer in Christ spiritually becomes a child of Abraham (Gal 3:7), so those who adopt Islam spiritually become a child of Mohammed who is traced back to Ishmael.
