Don’t allow the Left to hijack the language. The woman is not “gay,” she’s a lesbian. A male pervert is not “gay,” he’s homosexual. There is no such thing as “gender” as applied to humans, only sex, male or female.

The word “lesbian” came from the island of Lesbos in the Aegean Sea, where Sappho lived. The inhabitants of that island, after getting unwanted attention from that appellation, now call themselves Lesvonians. Its use started in the latter half of the nineteenth century.
The words “homosexual” and “heterosexual” were coined by a liberal Austro-Hungarian journalist named Karl-Maria Kertbeny, in 1869, basically to “replace” the older terms. He also put forth the notions of being “born that way” (to use a contemporary term) and the behavior being “unchangeable”.
The left’s lingo is newspeak, from Orwell’s 1984. The main thing I remember from reading 1984. Applies today, unfortunately.
