Some comments from Bill Cosby in 2004:
“Let me tell you something, your dirty laundry gets out of school at 2:30 every day, it’s cursing and calling each other n——— as they’re walking up and down the street,” Cosby said during an appearance at the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition & Citizenship Education Fund’s annual conference.
“They think they’re hip,” the entertainer said. “They can’t read; they can’t write. They’re laughing and giggling, and they’re going nowhere.”
You’ve got to stop beating up your women because you can’t find a job, because you didn’t want to get an education and now you’re (earning) minimum wage,” Cosby said. “You should have thought more of yourself when you were in high school, when you had an opportunity.”
“I can’t even talk the way these people talk, ‘Why you ain’t,’ ‘Where you is’ ... and I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk,” Cosby said then. “And then I heard the father talk ... Everybody knows it’s important to speak English except these knuckleheads. You can’t be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth.”
“For me there is a time ... when we have to turn the mirror around,” he said. “Because for me it is almost analgesic to talk about what the white man is doing against us. And it keeps a person frozen in their seat, it keeps you frozen in your hole you’re sitting in.”
I disagree. Never ease up on telling the truth however old you are, especially in a culture immersed in lies.
Yet still, it's not enough.
It never is. It never will be. Unfortunately too many Christians simply will never learn they can't bargain with Satan.
Voddie has been treated the same way.
I understand, but I wasn’t referring to telling the truth. Our commission is for a lifetime of course.
Telling the truth is racist.
This reminds me of the passage in Ephesians 6:13; "and having done all, to stand." He needs to stand.
I’m being hammered by a bunch of people on a church for men Facebook group for daring to agree with Josh. McDowell.
A subculture? How about the main tenet of black culture?...
Well, his problem was he spoke the truth.
I worked with an engineer (born with black skin), and he told me that growing up in Pittsburgh, he hung around with white kids, because they did better in school. He had an engineering degree and a mathematics degree. That is the truth, FRiends.
They DO NOT value education, generally speaking. It's considered "White" to go to school, study and be smart. The peer pressure to not be "White" among school aged blacks is very high.
Nothing McDowell said was untrue. People are pissed because he told the TRUTH.
In times of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.
---- George Orwell
Unless the whole article says something much more damning, I don’t see anything wrong with what he said, except that he didn’t state that there are plenty of white people who had the same mindset as the minority families of which he spoke.
BTW, he is a case in point. He was brought up by a violent alcoholic. So the advantages he was “brought up with”, did not include a functioning father, but perhaps his mother encouraged him.
I dislike Cosby’s sexual escapades, but he is right about the things he said about his own people. Too bad he’s not perfect like the rest of us...
Cancel culture means canceling all truth. And what was said is far from racist.
Another pussy pastor. You said it, so own it and defend it. Conservatives always cave to “public opinion.” That’s why I loved Trump so much. His comments and tweets were like a breath of fresh air.
Wow - I can see it’s only a matter of time before I get canceled at church. He should have said CRT is a millstone being tied around the necks of whites - …
The difference is, Latino families do value work. Handel said that many Latinos pull their kids out of school as soon as it's legal, and send them off to work.
At least, that's Handel's impression of all the immigrant Latino families here in Los Angeles. Education, advancement, is not on their radar. Just make enough money to support yourself and your family.
As truthful as saying Asians place greater emphasis on education that whites, but somehow not “controversial”
