Hundreds of students at Archbishop Riordan High School staged a walkout Friday during an all-school assembly that featured a prominent antiabortion speaker.
About five minutes into the presentation, during which staff members patrolled the doors, students at the Catholic high school exited the theater and walked into the gym, since school rules don’t permit them to leave campus. A few dozen of the school’s more than 800 students remained in the theater for the entire presentation.
The speaker, Megan Almon, works with the Life Training Institute, a program that focuses on teaching people who are opposed to abortion to “persuasively defend their views in the marketplace of ideas,” and sends its speakers to Catholic and Christian schools everywhere, its website says. The Catholic Church’s official stance is also antiabortion.
The assembly comes on the heels of women’s marches across the nation, including one in San Francisco, in support of reproductive rights as conservative states like Texas attempt to restrict abortion rights — timing that was frustrating to Riordan parents and students.

The students who walked out should be dismissed from the school. Let them go to a public school.
Sad.
The bigger question will be whether the school abides by its Catholic roots or prefers the money of these non-Catholic students
Selfishness on display.
HS education produces critical thinking. /s
Why would they be dismissed? Do you really think the school teaches the Faith?
These children are being formed more by the values of the world than by the Church. This is a failure by the local Church, the school, and especially of the parents who have the duty to be the primary educators of their children in the Catholic Faith.
Disrespect, if for no other reason. But, the school will favor money over values.
But the "rules" allow them to show disrespect to a speaker by leaving?
Seems like some rules either need to be revised and/or be enforced.
The roots of why this happened need to be investigated and if staff is involved in this walkout, that needs to be corrected.
In an expensive private Catholic girls’ school, a graduating class in the nineties asked all their teachers if they were for or against abortion.
Only the religion teacher was against it.
I wonder how many would walk out if they showed a film of an actual abortion?
I saw this today--LAPD --crooked politicians in city:
L.A. Police Union Calls For Investigation Into City’s COVID-19 Testing Contract
The Los Angeles Police Protective League is calling for an investigation into the contract awarded for COVID-19 testing, alleging conflicts of interest and ethical violations. City employees, including police officers and firefighters, who aren’t vaccinated have to be tested for COVID-19 twice per week at a cost of $65 per test, which is deducted from their paychecks. Those tests must be performed by Bluestone, according to Detective Jamie McBride, director of the Los Angeles Police Protective League. Bluestone is owned by PPS Health, which is partially owned by Pedram Salimpour, who serves on the Board of Fire and Police Pension Commissioners, which handles retirement benefits for many city employees. Salimpour has also contributed to the campaigns of several city officials, McBride said. “They literally just handed over a $3 million contract to a political donor who is also a city commissioner. I think anyone walking down the street, if you ask them, they’re going to say this doesn’t pass the smell test,” McBride said.
Sorry posted on wrong thread.
A parochial school education apparently rejects Biblical morality.
Well the Pope apparently doesn’t care.
Exactly. Such a lack of serious catechesis these days.
A closed mind at a young age is a terrible waste.
The last 50-years of those educated in the government thought-control asylums/schools have been thoroughly indoctrinated with the communist ideology...
There is absolutely no hope for the restoration of freedom & liberty represented by these ready made serfs...
