‘Thank God that it went well’: Rev. Franklin Graham undergoes heart surgery at Mayo Clinic

Noted evangelical leader the Rev. Franklin Graham underwent surgery on Monday at the Mayo Clinic for a heart problem and said the procedure was a success.

In a statement shared with The Christian Post, Samaritan's Purse said:

Franklin Graham successfully underwent a specialized heart surgery today at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. In recent months, Franklin had developed constrictive pericarditis, inflammation, and hardening of the sac around the heart that compresses the heart and prevents it from working properly. The surgery involved removing the pericardium.

His doctors expect a full recovery and assured him that he should be able to return to his normal activity and ministry schedule. Mr. Graham said that he is looking forward to multiple opportunities across the globe in 2022 to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and invite people to put their faith in Him. He is also eager to resume riding his motorcycle by springtime. He and his family appreciate everyone’s prayers.

The 69-year-old president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse posted an update on his Facebook page Tuesday morning.

Graham explained that he had developed constrictive pericarditis, an inflammation and hardening of the sac around the heart, which involves compressing of the heart.

“The surgery involved removing the pericardium, and we thank God that it went well,” wrote Graham. “The team here at Mayo Clinic does such an incredible job — I couldn’t speak more highly of them.”

Graham went on to note that doctors expect the evangelist to make “a full recovery” and will eventually be “able to return to my normal ministry schedule.”

“I look forward to many opportunities around the world in 2022 to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and invite people to put their faith and trust in Him,” he added.

“I’m also looking forward to being able to ride my motorcycle by the time warm weather hits! I appreciate everyone’s prayers.”

The son of the late Rev. Billy Graham has taken up his father’s mantle as a traveling preacher and evangelist.

From Sept. 19 to Oct. 2, Graham launched an eight-city evangelism campaign known as the “God Loves You” tour, which included approximately 56,000 attendees, among whom approximately 5,000 people indicated a decision to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior.

Cities on the recently completed tour included: Flagstaff, Arizona; Joliet, Illinois; St. Louis, Missouri; Springfield, Missouri; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Amarillo, Texas; and San Bernardino, California.

“Franklin shared the Good News at each stop, offering the hope of Jesus Christ during a time when many are struggling with the death of loved ones, loss of employment, or fear of what lies ahead,” explained the tour’s website.

“He invited those who don’t know Christ to surrender their lives to Him and discover His lasting peace.”

In addition to Graham speaking at the tour, there were also musical groups involved in the events, including the Newsboys and Marcos Witt.

"Times change, culture changes, but people's need for a relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ, doesn't change," Graham said last month.

"With all the bad news around us day in and day out, people need hope. I want people along Route 66 — and the rest of this nation — to know that God loves them."

Thank God for great doctors at Mayo.

May Franklin Graham be blessed (and we in return) for many, many more great years ahead. The world needs more Franklin Grahams.

Prayers to Rev. Graham.

this is the response to me when I reached out to Samaritan’s Purse about Graham pushing the vaccines:

On behalf of Franklin Graham, thank you for contacting Samaritan’s Purse. Thank you also for sharing your concerns, which we are glad to relay to Mr. Graham’s office.

From the beginning of the pandemic, Mr. Graham has encouraged Christians to pray for a cure to COVID-19 and an end to the worldwide crisis. Though he has stated publicly that he is thankful for the development of vaccines, his interview comments have emphasized that the decision to receive a vaccine is a personal one with many complexities and he does not believe vaccines should be mandated. He certainly understands that some people may choose not to receive the vaccine, whether due to personal medical conditions, sincere religious convictions, or potential long-term effects that are not yet known. Mr. Graham has repeatedly encouraged individuals to consult with their trusted primary care providers and take into account their own unique medical history, circumstances, and convictions as they prayerfully consider receiving any vaccine.

We know that decisions regarding vaccination are complex and personal, and Christians who recognize the inherent value of human life as God’s creation may reasonably draw different conclusions from one another on this issue. I realize that does not resolve all the questions, but it may be helpful to know that Mr. Graham carefully considered the expertise and experience of a number of medical professionals, especially those who specialize in treating infectious diseases, before choosing to receive the vaccine. He is now encouraging others to research the various vaccines, and to make their own prayerful decisions.

The leadership of this ministry, with recommendations of consulting physicians, want to continue to provide relief in Jesus’ Name and share the hope of the Gospel with as many hurting people as we can. This is especially important because the worldwide pandemic has caused increased suffering for so many across the globe. Please be assured Samaritan’s Purse remains focused on providing spiritual and physical aid to people around the world with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ

Thank you again for taking the time to write. If you would like to discuss any other questions or concerns, feel free to respond or call me directly at 828-278-1141.

I recently discovered his father Billy Graham wasn’t much different than Joel Olsteen and Rick Warren when it comes to Spiritual matters regarding Jesus and the Trinity being the only way to Heaven.

Very much so....on BOTH accounts.

Here’s one of his latest “vax” pushing statements....

Posted on 11/2/2021, 12:29:33 PM by Roman_War_Criminal

Franklin Graham is begging his evangelical buddies to line up and receive the government injection “before it’s too late!!!”, going so far as to say he would love to partner with Joe Biden in administering the sacrament of vaccination. He said his famous father, the pro-Vatican Billy Graham, would have taken the vaccine, and for that matter, he said Jesus would take it, too.
