My brother-in-law, Ruben, was just put on a ventilator this afternoon at Scripps Green Hospital. He’s 70, in reasonably good health, and lives in San Diego.
Ruben started feeling sick right after Thanksgiving so he got a Covid test which was NEGATIVE! He kept getting sicker but figured it was just a cold. Then his wife tested positive, although she got the monoclonal antibodies right away and recovered quickly. Ruben retested and this time it was positive. However, since he’d been sick for more than 2 weeks, he didn’t qualify for the MAB.
On Saturday, December 18th, she took him to the ER and he was admitted for fluids, oxygen, etc. While sitting at his bedside, she became clammy and felt dizzy, so they grabbed her, “stripped her,” and the next thing she remembers is being hooked up to an IV. They released her the next day but kept Ruben for additional care.
Today she got an update from the hospital that he had improved. Thirty minutes later they called and said he was in the ICU and being put on a ventilator! He’s on the Covid floor so she can’t be with him and she’s pretty upset.
Please pray that he survives. He’s a feisty Puerto Rican from NYC who’s also a great bongo player, and he’s a devout Christian.
Prayers up for Ruben, and his family.
Can they get him Ivermectin? I will certainly pray for him
Praying for Reuban!
May the lord bring him healing and restoration, in Jesus name, amen.
Prayers...
Praying for your BIL!
Prayers up!
Prayer up. Sorry you’re going through that.
Prayers!!
Prayers up.
May the doctors and staff be guided by God to the best solutions for healing.
May God bless Ruben with the strength to fight and recover completely from this nasty virus.
Prayers up. That was a tough and unfortunate set of circumstances that led to his not being eligible for the antibodies infusion.
I have some ivermectin that I just got, but we’re outside of Phoenix. Plus she can’t even visit him now that he’s on the Covid floor.
Prayers for Ruben and all who love him. My husband, at 71, spent 8 days on a ventilator in April 2020, and since fully recovered (to prior state of health, which is not optimal).
Have his wife continue to ask that he be placed in prone at times, and to be sure they test back his sedatives at intervals. With my husband, they were almost going to let him go at one point, due to they said he was not responsive, then dialed back his meds, and he improved quickly.
Tell me about it! That’s what makes me so angry about the whole thing.
Thanks! I’ll definitely pass that info along. I’m just not sure how much she’s pushing back against the “expert” doctors though. 😢
Prayers for Ruben.
Ruben has my prayers.
Prayers for Ruben and his wife.
