Benedictine Monks Separate From Benet Academy After Hire of Coach In Same-Sex Marriage

The group of Benedictine monks that govern Lisle’s Benet Academy has announced it will cut ties with the school after the hiring of a lacrosse coach who is in a same-sex marriage.
Murphy and Flynn explained that the monk community, St. Procopius Abbey, had spent the months since the September hiring examining their relationship with the school. “After much deliberation, the monks as a community have discerned that they no longer have the resources needed for the governance and oversight of the Academy,” they said.
Benet Academy had faced community backlash for rescinding a lacrosse head coach position offer to Amanda Kammes in September. School leadership acknowledged it had rescinded the offer after learning that Kammes was married to a woman.

The school soon reversed course and offered the position to Kammes again, noting in a Board of Directors statement, “Going forward we will look for opportunities for dialogue in our community and how we remain true to our Catholic mission while meeting people where they are in their personal journey through life.” Kammes accepted the renewed offer.

Let us praise God that at least one small group of people in the church is faithful.

Can we get a clue on the location of this school?

I cheated and looked at the original article. Naperville, Illinois.

I am with the Benedictine Monks in their decision to back away from the school, an arrogant group of people who want to thumb their noses at societal norms in hiring a female sexual pervert. Those 2 women can live however they choose, however they need to keep it to themselves and not inflict society with their perversion. There is too much of this crap being pushed today!

How can Benet remain true to their Catholic Mission by abusing
Church law? Benet needs to define their mission and promote their Academy accordingly and advertise their school accordingly; The School has its own guidelines which are not in accordance with the Church. The Benedictines are doing the right thing.

GMTA

I was thinking about B&B when I read the article :-) my dad used to drink it as a special aperatif, it would take a year for him to get through a bottle; if it weren't for my heart meds I'd have some myself today.

Both the Abbey and school are in Lisle, which is right next to Naperville. Both are rather-far west suburbs of Chicago.
