If a blind man couldn’t see Jesus or know him, yet still be healed by him, similarly a baptism by Jesus can still save someone who doesn’t know Jesus yet.
infant baptism does not produce salvation at all
Romans 10:13- for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
a person has to be able to of their own free will ask and receive the free gift of salvation, babies can’t do that.
salvation can’t be given by someone to another person- biblically it has to be an individual calling on Jesus for salvation- certainly infant baptism can’t and doesn’t save the baby, doesn’t even make sense.
not trying to argue just it’s not biblical
If a blind man couldn’t see Jesus or know him, yet still be healed by him, similarly a baptism by Jesus can still save someone who doesn’t know Jesus yet.
Apples and oranges. Nobody “knows” Jesus until they’re born again (redeemed). An infant does not have experience of “knowing” anything about what’s going on, as far as redemption, baptism, believing, etc. In order to be redeemed, you have to be aware of your sin and repent. An infant cannot do that.
As far as using one wrong word, it’s absurd. If an adult is being baptized, if they’ve been properly instructed as to what baptism is, it’s their act of obedience; THAT’S what counts.
Thank you!!! God imparts His grace because he is sovereign and can do ANYTHING He wants.
a baptism by Jesus can still save someone who doesn’t know Jesus yet.
***Baptism doesn’t save. Faith in Jesus is what saves.
“a baptism by Jesus can still save someone who doesn’t know Jesus yet.”
Ah, NO. KNOWING Jesus is REQUIRED to be saved by Him.
Baptism has NOTHING to do with it.
That is why so many will be “left behind”.
If baptism actually saved people, that might be the case, but since it doesn’t, then the wet baby is no worse off with the *wrong* words than the *right* ones.
Or conversely would be no better off with the*right* words than the *wrong* ones.
