I am aware of the split. In my little town of 3000 souls there are, last count, 12 churches (2 bars, one pot shop) of various denominations. All progressive AFAIK; although it has been years since I checked more closely than walking past or attending a funeral. Maybe it would be worth making the rounds and talking to the pastors again.
