He’s not a communist. He’s just something of an illiterate regarding economics.

Several years ago, Philip Booth, a Catholic economist from the Institute for Economic Affairs, described Pope Francis as a “corporatist”. As such he believes in a very generous welfare system geared toward helping the poor. He never actually espouses communism.

Being illiterate about how the economy works best (or better) is just another definition of a communist in my opinion.
