Moscow, October 27, Interfax - The Western civilization, having abandoned its traditional values, has lost its supremacy on the world stage and, thus being a minority, has no right to impose its values on the rest of the world, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"If western elites are assuming they can inculcate in the minds of their own people, their societies, odd but newly-fashionable trends such as dozens of genders and gay pride parades, then so be it. Let them do whatever they want, but they definitely have no right to require others to follow suit," Putin told the international Valdai Discussion Club on Thursday.
"It is the traditional societies of the East, Latin America, Africa and Eurasia who form the basis of the world civilization," Putin said.
"And respecting national identities and civilizations is in everyone's interest, indeed in the interest of the so-called West as well. And by losing its supremacy it is fast becoming a minority on the world stage," he said.
"The right of this Western minority to its own cultural identity must be assured, certainly, but on par with the rest," he said.
"Traditional values are not a fixed set of postulates for everyone to stick to. They are distinct from the so-called neo-liberal values in that in every case they are inimitable, being a result of the traditions of a specific society, its culture and historical experience," he said.
"Traditional values are not there to be forced on someone, they are simply to be respected, to be cherished as something every nation has been choosing for centuries. This approach to traditional values is shared and accepted by a majority of humankind," Putin said.

Why did I think Russia was part of Western Civilization? Because much of it is. Russia has elements of Eastern and Western civilization.

And he's an ally of regimes like Iran and Syria to go along with the above "values" he seeks to spread across the world.

Protecting Russian speaking peoples? ‘Tis to laugh. Ukraine has a lot of Russian-speaking people, and Putin is killing a great number of them with his invasion. You don’t really think that the only “Russian-speaking peoples” are in the Donbas, do you? In any event, the oldest excuse for aggression is to “save” those similar to you from some monster whose lands and resources you covet.
