“The main problem is most likely property, as in who gets to keep it.”

Or if anyone wants the property.

We did an expensive retrofit at our church and finished it before a severe earthquake about 20 years ago.

I was one of the key fund raisers and found out from a banker friend, there was basically zero backing available any major bank for a church retro or a new one.

We got some individuals to make the big donations.

Since, then, many churches have gone belly up in a 20 mile radius, and no bank has stepped in to take over.

‘Liberals can’t built their own organizations, instead they”capture” existing ones, taking the infrastructure, assets and endowments that were built up by generations by those who put their blood, sweat, tears and treasurer into creating those organizations.’

‘Conservatives are told (and some stupidly believe they can) “form their own organizations” if they don’t like it. It’s impossible, though, to start from scratch when you are competing with existing multi-billion dollar long-existing organizations.’

These issues have been going on in America for hundreds of years.

Often problems are created when cemeteries are abandoned by the churches.

Our grandparents on both sides wisely decided to fund and buy burial lots into non Church cemeteries. My GrandDad did that in the SW, and he/his wife and many relatives are buried in that family plot. A female daughter/widow relative preferred to be cremated and the ashes are kept by a daughter in her daughter’s home. That seems to have worked out well with the surviving family.

My Father in Law and his 8 brothers did something similar except on a larger scale back in the MidWest. They have over 100 grave sites in their 9 family plots. We passed our 2 spots.

My wife and I will probably do what the above female widow relative did, with one of her descendants.

We have bought 2 places in our Church’s Columbarium as a fall back plan.
