I [previously] did a Facebook/YouTube live presentation with my colleagues, Amir Tsarfati and Pastor Barry Stagner. It was titled “Doctrine Matters.” And indeed, it does! We considered a number of theologies that do not allow their followers to understand the times or become watchmen on the wall.
I thought I would summarize that discussion in this magazine format. Please understand that not every church in a particular denomination or stream of theology holds to some of this aberrant theology! A good illustration of this is many in the Assemblies of God are pushing back against Kingdom Now/ Dominion Theology, so prevalent in some Charismatic churches today. I’ll explain in a moment.
So, here’s a short list of theologies you might want to understand, and particularly if you are looking for a new church. I suggest you avoid any church that embraces:
Amillennialism: The Millennium Began at the Cross and We’re in it Now!
Tragically, almost all major denominations embrace this today. The Millennium is not literal, in spite of the fact that Revelation 20 says it is a thousand years multiple times.

I think the Millenium is a literal thing, but it does not begin until the coming of the Messiah to take us to Heaven.
I think it will be a time of rest and growth and maybe a bit like a boot camp because there will be so much we need to learn to live an eternal life.

They can’t understand the times? Churches can’t even understand geology.
I’ve listened to Jan Markle for years. Not many Churches preach prophesy based on Scriptures.
* Postmillennial Christians play to win, filled with confidence in the Coach and the Playbook.
* Amillennial Christians really don’t expect to move the ball too far past the 50-yard line, but they love the Coach, and will play their hearts out for Him, hoping for a tie at best.
* Premillennial Christians have already conceded the game, but can’t get out of it, since it’s the only game in town. They are accustomed to letting the other team run all over them.
* Dispensational Christians add a wrinkle to the premillennial commitment to personal and corporate defeat. They huddle in their own end-zones, and eagerly chat about an anticipated helicopter ride out of the game, at which point they can sit back and watch the other team and the fans in the stadium engage in a riot.

Or, as a friend of mine shared, he was “Premillenial, of course. Because the Kingdom of God is like a mustard tree, which started off huge then shrank and shrank until it was just a seed and the whole garden was overrun with thistles. Then at the last moment, the gardener came in and plucked out the little seed and burned down the rest of the field, which had become so overwhelmed with chaff and weeds that it couldn’t possibly been any worse...”
Agreed. The church, the bride of Christ, is in heaven in Revelation preparing for the wedding feast.

At the saddest sacred grove of all, the merry marchers gazed aghast upon the Fortune Tellers. One by one, each Fortune Teller scanned his tarot cards, or gazed into his crystal ball, and descried the future. “The game is rigged,” they cried out with joy. “The fight is fixed! The Master hath already deigned to take a dive! Come, join with us, come learn of us, of the coming Great Puppet Master, of his Puissant Golem, and of the steps of their foredoomed march through nations! Then, to their horror, the brave marchers saw the Sacred Book dragged into the oracular circle. The seers did slice the Sacred Book into choice parts to use as tarot cards, dispensing with the rest. And the Book did smoke, and groan in agony, and rattle the chains that enslaved it to an evil task, a forbidden task, a task against its nature. And the smoke of its torment did cause a strange frenzy to more hotly enflame the Fortune Tellers, who rose higher and higher upon an ever-growing heap of envisioned futures that never happened.
And a quiet Voice at his elbow said, “Pilgrim, do you really think I will tolerate this much longer? Come, give my people hope.”

Good article, worthy of sharing and book marking.
I think we know someone who embraces the first four and rejects the latter.
I am thankful that I was never raised in any religion. And 37 years ago I was introduced to a home fellowship Bible study which wholeheartedly embraces the latter.
The first thing I was taught is to never adopt any belief that cannot be supported by Scripture:
Galatians 1:8-10

9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

I’ve been looking to meet the Lord in the air ever since.
Now more than ever.

I was the taught the the Millenium, on earth, will be spent by Satan and his angels to see what they have wrought.
We, the saints and saved, will spend that same thousand years in Heaven to rest, recuperate, grow, and work and whatever else we might be doing.
That seems to be what is suggested when you read Revelations straight up.
