I don’t think it does, ever. It’s sinful.

What bakes my noodle though is the idea that as sin goes it’s any more sinful than wearing mixed fibres, eating pork, working on Sundays, paying for sex, going into prostitution, having extramarital affairs, and a whole truckload of stuff that is just as sinful according to the Bible.

According to one passage in the Old Testament I’m already hellbound by virtue of me being the product of rape... And so are my kids, grandchildren. According to the New Testament, I am NOT going to be judged by the appalling circumstances of my conception. According to another section of the Old Testament, my maternal grandad who pimped his 13 year old daughter to the “religious” community didn’t do anything wring. Go figure.

We don’t prosecute people for liking bacon butties. Some countries put people in prison just for admitting that they are same sex attracted.

There’s a lot of contradiction and hypocrisy in this area. So i start with the Ten Commandments, then Jesus’ teachings, then the Gospels, then the letters of Paul, and only then start looking at statements in the old testament.

There’s a reason why Jesus had a bit of a problem with the Pharisees, pointed out wrongheadedness to His disciples, and told the parable of the Good Samaritan. Sticking to the Old Testament law entirely misses the purpose of His ministry.

We’re all sinners. We can be saved by accepting that and accepting Christ into our hearts. You can be as officious and regimented to the Old Law as you like, and still have the “hard heart” that is closed to salvation. You can also be a penitent criminal on a cross, and earn His mercy.

If you can’t even understand what the New Testament of our LORD Jesus Christ meant in relation to the Old Testament, then you don’t understand Christ.

There are cardinal sins - murder, taking the Lord’s name in vain, covetousness, gluttony... but being homosexual isn’t one of them.
