Video: John MacArthur Refutes Tim Keller’s Unbiblical “Urban Mandate” Theology
PatriotandLiberty Blog ^ | Sept 2021 | disntr

Keller’s theology has a lot in common with the New Apostolic Reformation’s “Seven Mountain Mandate” which teaches that Christians are called to take over seven “areas” of culture and Christianize them in order to “redeem” the culture. Keller’s twist on this is that Christians need to “redeem” the urban cities by a similar methodology. Keller’s view is largely rooted in his social justice gospel–a false gospel that has been thoroughly refuted.

‘...“Seven Mountain Mandate” which teaches that Christians are called to take over seven “areas” of culture and Christianize them in order to “redeem” the culture.’

So they aspire to be the city that sits on seven hills then?

Isn’t this also known as Dominionism?

I think Ted CRuz’ dad and maybe Barton were/are involved with this?

It’s been a while since I’d even seen this, so I may be consuming them/this.

Human efforts at pefecting the world in some “Christian” manner are not going to work, BECAUSE they are “human” efforts and not the work of the Holy Spirit, which is centered on redeeming souls NOT remaking the world.

As a dominionist

Aka reconstructionist

Aka theonomist

No Keller is not one of us! I’ll be careful not to be too critical but he denies six day creation and seems to me to be quite social gospel oriented. I wish he’d come around! And I hope all will glean all the benefits from the positive aspects of his ministry.

Agreed human efforts are in the flesh.

However we are mandated to be salt and light, and love our neighbor as ourselves, and go and teach ALL MEN to submit to Christ’s authority.

So I will say I DO go forth in doing this by the power of the Holy Spirit. It is His mandate.

Agree with this or not, I don’t even understand it.

My question has always been why aren’t black evangelical chruches flooding the inner cities with missionaries? I cannot reach those areas in this sensitive time, but they can. And these are their “brothers” in the struggle, why don’t they seem to care?

Yes, by shining your light in Christ you can effect change in individuals. The scriptures remind us, soberly, you will not perfect the world. The world will get worse and worse until the war between God and evil breaks into the open for all the world to see, openly and visible, and God ends this world as we know it.

I am so puzzled with some of the Presbyterian views/beliefs. Of course, I don’t know all of them.
However, consider infant baptism: it is not in the Bible. The baptism in the New Testament is believer’s baptism. And the contortions used to “prove” infant baptism is something Jesus taught is a bit like cutting up the newspaper to create a ransom note.
OTOH - Tim Keller is in NYC, so he probably gets a big does of woke-think and thinks he is not infected/impacted by the bunk and bull.

My question has always been why aren’t black evangelical chruches flooding the inner cities with missionaries? I cannot reach those areas in this sensitive time, but they can. And these are their “brothers” in the struggle, why don’t they seem to care?

It's actually going on, it's just you don't hear about it. My majority black church has a building dedicated to inner city mission work with people working and volunteering there during the weekdays. We had 1,100 people turn to Christ last year, with probably half of that during the weekdays at the mission building and the other half in the worship building. Most of the middle agers in my church are married blacks living in the suburbs (like I do) who attend church in the city to make a difference. There are tons of teenage and early 20's young black men living in the city who attend our church. When we have weekend work projects they jump to volunteer and provide real work hours.

When I was younger (early 40's) I led some of the young men's small groups where they open up about temptations regarding sex and getting into racism. I realized early on that it was best if I did less of the talking and let some of the men younger than me do most of the leading, especially if they were black. The attendees would commit to living lives for Christ and hold each other accountable. My unofficial part in those groups was to be the living encyclopedia when they needed information more than encouragement. (i.e. if someone questions if the Bible is relevant since it wasn't written for today's world, I would point out that the Greco-Roman world the Bible was written in was very much hedonistic like today's world with orgies and homosexuality and abortion -- through exposure -- and even temple prostitution.) That kind of Bible geek discussion wasn't brought up in every meeting, but it happened enough for me to be there when needed. Now that I'm older I'm no longer part of those young adult small groups. But I hear it's much like I remember. And from what I see when they come through my financial small groups, it's a real change. My financial group used to have almost nothing but single black mothers. Now it's half couples, and the single half are almost evenly split between men and women. Most of the singles are childless (though a few have at least one kid) and they're at the group to be financially wiser. And that's with both the locals attending my group, and the folks who live 20 or more miles away (mainly whites) but stop by at my group on the weeknights since they were in town for work.

I'd love to know how much this is happening in other urban areas.

They are wrong, but there are 4 Hidden Dynasties planted onto the world. The 1) Religion and 2)Education are controlled by people behind the scenes. Religion by large “churches” like the RCC with is not Christian in anything but name, of course individuals within them are.

Schools have been controlled since government took them over from parents.

Figure out the other two..... 3)Financial? controlled by government in totality....okay, down to one. 4) Political.

All 4 are controlled by outside forces, unless you really think that Our Republic is influenced by voters. Then, I would say you are a useless idiot.

Satan, which in the Bible literally translates as “the enemy” controls them all. Who controls the enemies, is anyones guess.

For you Bible believers out there, the “Princes” in the Bible referring to power, are likely Demonic. So in Revelation when the Princes mass to come into the Middle East, it is not nations, but Supernatural beings.

Said my piece, and peace unto you all my Christian brothers and sisters. May Christ come quickly, Amen.

Yes already watched it. Thanks. This dude claims if you got white skin youre guilty of all sins from the past. Other idiotic thing he does is pushing covid vaccine as well as masking along with another lunatic Francis Collins that if you are Christian you need to get vaccinated. To quote Beth Moore, reeks the vomit from hell lol

Sir, I am glad your church is doing something, however, I spent 6 years working in Brooklyn and Manhatten and never saw any African-Americans preaching, talking or going anywhere. Except for the black Israelites and the Muslims. They were ubiquitous in many places.

And the ones I see around DC are very proud of the enormous buildings and fiscal edifice they have received, but few if any are going out to their people. I know of a dozen missionaries to Africa, but only one African-American missionary to Africa.

I hope I am wrong, but I am not convinced.
