The best way (I think) to understand it is to look at countries that have fallen prey to a dictatorship. I can't think of one which has fallen prey to a corporate dictatorship.

Locally in country yes. But they have no problem trading their natural resources and citizens labor to Global Corporations who will supply what they need to stay in power.
