There is only one God, you are correct.
However, the Bible does call the devil the god of this earth.
The demons are gods, in the sense that they desire worship and Godless humans will give them that worship in exchange for seeing trinket tricks.

Of course there are lesser gods. God created all these lesser gods. Read Deuteronomy 32 and Psalm 82 and numerous passages in both OT and NT.

Have you read the Old Testament cover to cover? There are many, many gods (little "g"). BTW, when Jesus spoke of Scripture, He was speaking of this Old Testament, of course. It was this Old Testament world that all the Apostles knew and understood.
There is only one God (big "G") Creator, but there are many wanna be gods (spiritual beings) described who seek worship.
A great book on this subject is Michael Heiser's "Unseen Realm."
