It’s quite simple. They hate God the Father, Jesus his Son, the Holy Spirit, moral purity and holiness. To them, as others have stated, freedom means the freedom to sin with abandon and not the slightest twinge of guilt that comes from a seared conscience. It escapes them that they are enslaved.
The big showdown is fast looming on the horizon.
“Eat of it and you shall be like God” (Genesis 3). But beware, being your own god has its risks!
I once was privileged to hear a lecture by the late Dr. Walter Martin, he observed: “There are really only TWO real faiths: worship of God of Holy Bible and Savior Jesus Christ and the worship of Self (aka: Ego). ALL cults, ‘isms, New Age fantasies, Secularism/Atheism, Eastern religions (all religion in general) and most ideologies are just versions of worship of Self (Ego), as all are human centered.” He warned those that choose to worship Ego (self) will soon sadly learn that Ego is a fearful, cruel and merciless master, no forgiveness, no peace, no redemption. The worship of Ego will always end in despair, discontent and death. There is no salvation gained from worship of Ego (is that why they’re so angry and vindictive all the time?). Salvation only comes from Jesus Christ (John 14:6)” This has stayed with me for over forty years. He also noted: “Old Devil’s best lies are 99% truth.” God Bless!!!
