Universalism is the heresy that all people will eventually be saved. It is not only a heresy, but an actual sin, “presumption,” which is supposing that we know we are saved no matter what we do. Presumption leads us to abandoning the quest to achieve holiness, disregarding evangelization as unnecessary, and supposing that we can know or control God.
“Catholicism” is universal only in the sense that it exists wherever Christianity exists; the church is not constrained by any geographic boundaries or hidden doctrines.
