Very true: the will to power of 'self.' Yet while evil spirits still work through atheism while staying in the background, with spiritualism they work out in the open. For example, they speak through mediums, appear in the guise of spirit guides advising Global leaders, and so on. This is Heiser's main point.

Start with an agreed to definition of 'spiritualism' first. Materialism is well defined already.

I personally do not agree with the equating all spiritualism as being 'new age spiritualism.'

Therefore, if the question is: 'which is worse: new age spiritualism or materialism' my response is both present a false choice.
