(2 Peter 1:20) Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. (Isaiah 28:10) For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: (Isaiah 28:13) But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
——>Another Jack Chick revote!
The only place I’ve ever heard of this guy is on this site, by people like you. Sounds like you follow him pretty close.
As an Independent Baptist, I object to being unrepresented in this poll (unless I’m missing something). We’re WAY more conservative than the SBC folks.
That’s changed recently with the rise of wokism
It’s hard to figure
They are like Jews
So many claim to be catholic from birth but aren’t religious
That describes most of my catholic friends and most of my family who are non practicing Catholics
As a southern Baptist fire and brimstones kind of ingrains a reluctance to wander too far lol
It works criticize it all you like
I went to the front at a guest Jim Robeson revival at Calvary Baptist church in Jackson Mississippi in 1967 at 10 years old Wednesday night service after RAs
My dad watching our students group sitting up front in our 4-500 souls congregation whispered to my mom
“He’s gonna get all down there at this rate” lol
Salvation ..whatever works more or less
For Catholics too
About this “revenue”: do you suppose priests stand at the door of Churches and demand 10 bucks for admission? If a parishioner asks a priest to say Mass for a deceased loved one, do you believe he says “ That will be 49.95”? We do have a collection plate and a poor box. I assume most denominations do. Unless I’m somehow mistaken and didn’t realize that Protestant ministers take no money and don’t have a salary or a car but somehow still make ends meet. Also, I’m really happy that Protestant denominations never have abuses. Bob Hilton sneezing into a prayer cloth and selling it to some poor old lady for ten grand is the epitome of being Christ like and a true pastor of the Gospel.
Can’t even obey a simple command like that..
YOU KNOW that Catholics PRAY the Lord's prayer at
EVERY MASS,
EVERY DAY
IN EVERY COUNTRY, around the WORLD
after the Gospel has been proclaimed
and before the Eucharistic Worship.
And Catholics have had the Lords Prayer in our Worship
since the beginning- 2000 years ago.
And while Catholics do not see praying the Pater Noster
as a commandment to be "obeyed",
you can see we have done so, as central to our liturgical Worship.
You know all this, and yet you would choose to present something false.
This is a form of a false witness, and totally unecessary
for you to make your case against- Why You Are Not Catholic.
The RC denomination STARTED as a revenue-generating enterprise.
You (and Metmom) are incredibly ignorant of the facts, as would anyone who was in “Babylon/Harlot daughter churches”.
(game, set, match)
Agree, but there’s also a lot of good information also. Which book would you suggest?
Do you have a list of all the errors because overall he lays it out pretty well. Hunt’s A Woman Rides The Beast validates a lot of Hislop’s work. Would that be a better book?
Is there a source for that?
God’s Truth is found in Sacred Tradition, Sacred Scripture and the Magisterium (teaching authority) and the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
Jesus gave authority to interpret his teachings—i.e., God’s word—to the apostles and their successors. This is first seen in the Great Commission, where Jesus directs his apostles to make disciples of all nations, “teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:20). Here we see that long before any of the books of the New Testament were written, Jesus gives the apostles authority to faithfully teach his unwritten teachings—and by extension those contained in the written Old Testament.
The apostles’ God-given authority is affirmed elsewhere, as Christ’ teachings are referred to as “the apostles’ teaching” in the early Church (Acts. 2:42). The authority of the Church and thus the apostles is also affirmed by St. Paul (1 Tim. 3:15). Consequently, it is the apostles and their successors who have the God-given authority to interpret the New Testament when its books are first written and then ultimately compiled.
Sola scripture is a man-made opinion and is not supported by the Bible.
You may interpret scripture by changing meaning, deleting books, or ignoring what doesn’t meet your practices.
There are no protestant beliefs that prove that God’s Truth taught by Jesus and the Apostles has not been followed by the Catholic Church. Just the opposite, many protestant beliefs are heresy.
Some Catholics (Luther, Calvin and others) may express heretical beliefs that are not in agreement with the Catholic teachings. Some Catholics (including Bishops and priests) may disregard the teachings of Jesus and His Church (on marriage, divorce, abortion, adultery, homosexuality and the other commandments) but that does not represent the teachings of the Church.
There is no validity in the Bible for protestant beliefs such as sola scriptura, sola fides, once saved always saved, Eucharist - the Body and Blood of Jesus is a symbol.
Jesus said: “If they persecuted me, they will persecute you; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also.” Revelation entails the responsibility of embracing it (God’s Word).
Thanks. I’ve heard this man before and again, reinforces Hunt and Hislop and others. I’ll grants SOME errors, but overall it points to the church of Thyatira.
Sadly Sardis has no blessing but it appears the false prophet will spawn through this church. Tradition married the gods way back and has been endeavoring to marry Jesus and his mother to prior pagan worship and corrupted the whole world.
Nimrod and Semaramis come to mind. Mary worship is predominant in Catholicism bypassing Jesus. One MUST ask why and what of the origin of this?
Your comment: “The RC denomination STARTED as a revenue-generating enterprise.”
Again, you make a blanket statement without either knowing the truth or even trying to provide false impression of facts.
Did you learn this is a seminary? I would be interested in your written source.
If you are in protestant ministry, how much has been paid to you?
Are you aware of any protestant church that does not generate revenue?
Why specially do you hate the Catholic Church founded by Jesus? If you are a minister why do you express such venom?
Serious question: do you believe you've been sealed by the Holy Spirit as Paul describes believers in three places in the NT?
Can you point to a passage that says God unseals them?
“If you are in protestant ministry, how much has been paid to you?”
I’m not in the protestant ministry. I’m a chick. “Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak”. Unless you consider music as a ministry. That’s why I was in seminary, i.e., majoring in Church Music.
Getting paid? For what? For my time at the organ and piano in church, I don’t get paid. It’s a gift to the church.
“Are you aware of any protestant church that does not generate revenue?”
Ours doesn’t, in the manner that some do, based on Jesus throwing the money changers out of the Temple. One church we attended announced they were going to have a bake sale in the community to raised money. We never went back.
No selling of indulgences as was common when the RC denomination was invented. No paying money to light candles for dead people. (Why?) When my Catholic friend died, the priest met with the family before the service. He dictated a dollar amount they had to shell out. Maybe to help get her into Heaven. (And good luck with that.).
—> This is the first time I EVER heard that people pray to Martin Luther. Hilarious.
I doubt anyone does.
Blessed Father Luther lives in his head rent free.
But… it would do just as much good to pray to Luther as to Mary.
People on FR posted their experiences having to pay their Roman church to get an annulment.
—> God’s Truth is found in Sacred Tradition, Sacred Scripture and the Magisterium (teaching authority) and the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
No, yes, no.
—> “teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you”
This does not say interpretation. Just teach them to observe (obey) what I commanded.
—> unwritten teachings
Oh how you spin straw into Roman gold!
The Apostles put Christ’s teachings into the NT, guided by God’s Spirit.
It is not a blank check to add paganism, as Rome did.
—> the apostles’ teaching
Absolutely no record of any apostle teach the majority of the things Rome added.
—> Sola scripture is a man-made opinion and is not supported by the Bible.
Scripture says everything someone needs for salvation and maturity is on Scripture.
—> There is no validity in the Bible for protestant beliefs such as sola scriptura, sola fides, once saved always saved, Eucharist - the Body and Blood of Jesus is a symbol.
How do you say, “I’m not saved!” Without coming right out and saying it?
I think you posted you usual litany of tropes, which you have been corrected on many, many times already.
PS - 40-65% of catholic priests are gay, according to the few surveys out there. They have gay sex and drug parties at the Vatican, as reported in Italian news media.
God’s church isn’t a gay church.
