A lot of Catholics are Democrats, for some reason.

Catholicism (and all Christianity, really) has a strong message of being charitable and the Democrats have successfully appropriated that message. But it is actually distorted, as the Democrats are not being truly charitable, because what they are actually doing is exchanging tax dollars for votes, which keeps them in power. There is no spiritual benefit to the giver or the receiver, which is really what charity is all about.

They think that “being charitable” means turning a blind eye to other’s perversions, embracing those perversions themselves even, and encouraging the ones committing the perversions to co ti ue on as though it weren’t an abomination as God calls the sins in his word.

Dems have created a false god in their own image- a false God that doesn’t condem any sin really, and they refuse to warn the sinner that the sin, and not accepting christ as savior, leads to hell. They think anyone that does warn the sinner is mean, hateful, and bigoted. Dems do NOT understand true love- true love warns- it doesn’t coddle and say that everything is OK when clearly it is not

I believe that over the years Catholics have come around on the assumption that democrats are more supportive of charity, in all forms, than are Republicans. I did see a shift in my own family toward Republican candidates when Goldwater v Lyndon Johnson were the candidates. The parties had become more hardened politically and the difference between socialism and capitalism was pretty obvious. Culture was also a factor. My father’s Irish side seemed more Catholic and mother’s German side was inclined toward democrat.
