Fr. James Altman, the priest behind the viral video, “You cannot be Catholic and a Democrat”. He now has released another video claiming “Pope Francis is not the Pope”. Father James Altman is an inspiring Roman Catholic priest who has dedicated his life to serving God and spreading the message of the Gospel. Originally from the Diocese of Marquette, Father Altman was an attorney who had a family practice in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, when he answered the call to the priesthood. Graduating from the University of St. Mary of the Lake’s Mundelein Seminary outside Chicago, Father Altman was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Jerome E. Listecki at the Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman on June 28, 2008.

Following ordination, his first assignment was as chaplain and teacher at Assumption High School and associate pastor at Our Lady Queen of Heaven, both in Wisconsin Rapids. He moved to Ss. Peter and Paul, Wisconsin Rapids, on March 1, 2009. One year later he was appointed the parish’s administrator and installed as pastor by Bishop Callahan on Dec. 19, 2010.

Fr. Altman gained worldwide recognition after filming the now viral video entitled, “You cannot be Catholic & a Democrat”

I am not a Catholic but I sympathize with the good people who have to agonize over making plausible excuses for the decisions by the higher ups.

There is NO legitimate reason to hug and enable Pelosi and Biden as the Pope did. Or to permit illicit communion from the direct enabler and supporters of special abortion rights to affect large numbers of babies in the womb who will be killed as a result. Excuse “not direct participants in an abortion procedure” is really wimpy.

I’m sorry I can’t quote the specific wording but there is a reason to refrain from scrupulosity about guilt feelings if one has to buy a product or service provided by a company that owns several others and at least one provides travel money to allow employees to go to an abortion state, for example. But donating to or buying from direct abortion promoters may cause a person to consider refraining. Same with same sex “marriage.”

An excuse for Pelosi and Biden was, unlike the medical assistants of an abortionist performing an abortion while they assist and are present, Pelosi and Biden indirectly pushed the legislation and rulings that promote abortions.
Their statements result in scandal and their receiving communion is not licit, according to some.

Because I listened to the entire "sermon," I can offer an opinion as a non-Catholic. It seems to me he is as persuasive as was Bishop Sheen. Were I to spend more time on this single issue, I would in a scholarly way check his references, direct from the church fathers.

I followed for awhile the distinctions between " munus" and "ministerium," and I don't think the separation being somehow rejoined with the death of Benedict makes sense. Rather Francis should have stepped down and a new conclave assembled. Viganò like Altman seems to speak in the tradition and with a clarity for the world which the "Kamala Harris" version of a pope -- a trendy Wendy with word salad aplenty -- simply does not.

I count myself fortunate to have heard many fine Catholic, Protestant and Jewish thinkers speak in person. None, flavored with the "pride" themes and identity politics. This seems like an interim period in history -- an interregnum -- before the "next" emerges with clarity. It won't be as many imagine....
