Robert Royal and Fr. Gerald Murray discuss a new document — Fiducia supplicans — that came out today from the Dicastery on the Doctrine of the Faith, and approved by Pope Francis, that seeks to “broaden” and “enrich” the concept of “blessing” in the Church. This innovation, its seems, will even permit blessings for “same-sex couples” — just as long as they don’t give the impression of being the equivalent of traditional marriage.

We have to disagree. It is very different. If the “b!essing” was to overcome homosexual attraction and behavior with the.admonishment, “ go and sin no more” I would agree. You cannot bless those entrenched in sin who have no intention of change and relish their sin. Church teaching has not changed and homosexuality is intrinsically disordered despite the pope and ddf who live it. You do not bless sin. Francis thrives in playing this game where he gives ambiguous endorsement to sin. You know full well that despite anything he wrote, it is a gimme to those wanting to endorse lgbtq and that is already how to globohomo crowd is already representing the ambiguity.

Went to a Catholic church for 8 years. They do not teach the Bible which most Catholics are very ignorant of.

I now go to a church that goes through the Bible one chapter at a time and in 12 years am almost all the way through. He has to teach the tough parts as well as the Social Justice parts.

Not sure why you get all defensive over a church that is dying because it is more Social Justice than Biblical.

Well here’s enough ‘sin’ going around in both circles as I see it. Far too many ‘Name it claim it” Prosperity Gosple Fake preachers .....many end up in various deviante sexual relationships.

So Christians on both sides need to find a Bible believing Church.... actually read their Bibles.

actually read their Bibles.

There's a point with which I enthusiastically agree!

Yep....I find it difficult when someone says they’re a Christian but they don’t read their Bible.

I’m no Francis fan, first off.

Just in general, if you ask the priest for a blessing, he doesn’t ask the state of your conscience. You could have slept with your neighbor’s wife the night before, or done numerous other things, including homosexual acts, etc.

Pope Francis never explains anything, which is a real problem. Blessing a homo union is one thing, giving someone a blessing as an individual is quite another.

In short if you walked up and asked for a blessing, a priest would not ask if you’d committed adultery, watched porn last night, or anything else. It specifically says that blessing the union in a liturgical sense, or anything that equates it with marriage is out.

I agree with everything you wrote. But blessing an individual asking for a blessing and blessing a gay couple asking for a blessing are two very different things. That said, the homo lobby in the press, and plenty of the gay priests and bishops are already using this to say the church endorses blessing gay unions. This is the evil of pope Francis, speaking that he supports church teaching, but in a way that creates ambiguitity deliberately. Then his sycophants say he was misunderstood. This is a very evil satanic man, sowing confusion among the faithful.

“I did. It's a sleazy attempt to (metaphorically) get the camel's nose into the tent. Its author is a heretic, at best.”

It’s called strategic ambiguity. He issued a vague, ambiguous statement knowing how the media and many bishops would spin it. In fact he counted on it.

And that is HOW you get the camel's nose under the tent. Those who issue vague ambiguous statements do so deliberately, and for nefarious purposes.

that’s his biggest issue, he never clarifies anything, just muddies up the issues.

The press has taken ‘people in homo unions can be blessed’ to homo unions can be blessed. The two things are completely different, and the pope should have immediately clarified it. He clarifies nothing, and that’s why solid Catholics will be glad when his time is over.
