Read today on this website about abortion. Made me think of this concept and also of the concept of Pergatory. I was taught of these things that some people believe in, in church and school sixty years ago. I don't know for sure.

Its fun to see the things they made up being set aside.

Maybe they will start being biblical again.

This is from 2007?

Wouldn’t there be interesting old threads on this?

The Bible clearly states that if a man not be baptized he cannot be saved.

This was Catholic theologians' attempt to show that God would be merciful and not violate His word, i.e. put the unbaptized into an OK place rather than damn them to Hell.

If Protestants really believed in Sola Scriptura then they wouldn't advocate for baptism after the age of reason. So many children died early in the ages before modern medicine, and since there is no Limbo, I guess they're all burning in Hell.

I mentioned the old ones because there were more Christian discussions and they were more passionate and intense, so more interesting and informative.

I notice religion doesn’t get the interest it used to.

I always wondered what happened to limbo.

How does limbo differ from Purgatory?

I did not learn these things in catechism that I recall but I did learn of them from my family.

They certainly were not secrets.

If you can find them for me it would be appreciated. Limbo and Purgatory were taught as a part of a religion where I was. Never could square with it.

Limbo was always treated in Catholicism as conjectural and not doctrinal.

The best argument against limbo is that even though infants and children may misbehave, they cannot commit sin due to their lack of capacity for moral reason. That being so, after baptism removes original sin, infants and young children enjoy a state of grace that assures immediate entry into Heaven.

Oddly, the Albert Brooks movie Defending Your Life takes the same approach with children going directly to Heaven. In other words, a Jewish comedian seems to have followed the best Catholic reasoning on the subject.

Sincerely, how does your faith treat those issues?

How does limbo differ from Purgatory?

Purgatory is a place of punishment and suffering Limbo is a place like heaven but with no access to the Holy Presence.

In Purgatory you suffer pains to atone for your sins that should have been suffered in life but didn’t and you did not confess to in the confessional.

It is basically Hell but temporary.

Forever

There is no forgiveness for the sin of Adam and Eve’s original sin without baptism

This is the terrible truth of abortion.

Aborted babies will never see God through no fault of their own.

Maybe if I prayed just a little bit everyday every one of them would be in Paradise. I figure that’s religion.

"NO NEGATION OF BAPTISM" The document stressed that its conclusions should not be interpreted as questioning original sin or "used to negate the necessity of baptism or delay the conferral of the sacrament".

Wrong. That's exactly what it means. Salvation without baptism.

Yet another crucial element of actual Catholicism falls because a narcissistic heretic pope. Malachy was correct in his prediction the Benedict would be the last pope. Francis is an anti-pope.
