Excellent piece. I'm already going to flag my friend who is marrying a Catholic girl and is openly listening to the case for Catholicism (although his current hangup is papal infallibility and the role of Mary within Catholicism).
Aside from that though, I know he doesn't see anything morally illicit about contraception. I think your work here will go a long way towards opening his eyes to it.
Given the nature of the debate on Free Republic news forum threads regarding homosexual assaults on teen boys in the Catholic priesthood, and the extent of religious and theological attack on those news threads that is permitted, I'm very disappointed to see this thread was moved to the religion forum from the news forum, where it would provide little balance to the crescendo of anti-Catholic sentiment.
However, to be fair, I fully expect the moderators will be pulling any theological discussion against Catholics on news forum threads, since we are not permitted threads to defend ourselves from these attacks on the news forum, apparently.
This is grossly unjust, and very disappointing.
I guess religion has indeed been banished to the Religion Forum ghetto here on Free Republic.
