I know some Catholic FReepers are Third Order Carmelites and others have an interest in the Little Flower, so I thought we might discuss her Little Way -- or perhaps simply post quotes from her that have been meaningful in our lives as Christians.
Living Bread
Ah! Lord let me hide in your face.
There I'll no longer hear the world's vain noise.
Give me your love, keep me in your grace
Just for today.
Near your divine Heart, I forget all passing things.
I no longer dread the fears of the night.
Ah! Jesus, give me a place in your Heart
Just for today.
Living Bread, Bread of Heaven, divine Eucharist,
O sacred Mystery! that Love has brought forth...
Come live in my heart, Jesus, my white Host,
Just for today.
Deign to unite me to you, Holy and sacred Vine,
And my weak branch will give you its fruit,
And I'll be able to offer you a cluster of golden grapes
Lord, from today on.
I've just this fleeting day to form
This cluster of love, whose seeds are souls.
Ah! give me, Jesus, the fire of an Apostle
Just for today.
Saint Therese of Lisieux
Doctor of the Church.

Thank you for posting St. Therese's story... I forgot how much I loved her when I was a child - I am going to get a book on Therese's life for my 13 year old to read.

A good one for the present times.
"To live of love, 0 Master dearest, best! It is to beg Thee light Thy holiest fires Within the soul of each anointed priest, Till he shall feel the Seraphim's desires;
It is to beg Thee guard Thy Church, 0 Christ! For this I plead with Thee by night, by day; And give myself, in sacrifice unpriced, With love alway!
To live of love, it is to dry Thy tears, To seek for pardon for each sinful soul, To strive to save all men from doubts and fears, And bring them home to Thy benign control.
Comes to my ear sin's wild and blasphemous roar; So, to efface each day, that burning shame, I cry: " 0 Jesus Christ! I Thee adore. I love Thy Name!"
St. Therese, The Little Flower, "To live by love"

Thank you both for the posts. I have felt her presence in my life before but I was never open or grateful. I was too bitter. Perhaps I will try again:)

I thought this thread might bring you a little spiritual refreshment. You do such a good job defending our Faith on other threads. God bless!

It is good to remember St Therese who prayed so hard for priests to be holy -- and it is a good time to ask her intercession together with St. Vincent de Paul.
Lord Jesus Christ, thou Good Physician, heal thy Church, we beseech thee.

My oldest daughter(who is supposed to make her First Eucharist tomorrow and is running a fever today) has a variation of her first two names, my youngest her third and more familiar one. For a good book to introduce youngsters to her I recommend Little Therese from www.chcweb.com and for teens, John Beevers Storm of Glory and of course the Little Flower's autobio, Story of a Soul from www.icspublications.org Peace and all good things,

Thank you for the ping. St. Therese of Lisieux has been an inspiration and blessing for me ever since I read her autobiography five years ago. Her "Little Way" has since become an integral part of my daily life. Just from her portrait alone, a brief glimpse of her angelic expression is enough to strengthen my spirit. I always wondered what she might have been thinking when that photo was taken. Now I know. That same slightly-reserved smile I often see in my 9-month-old son usually precedes a joyful squeal as he rushes toward me for hugs and kisses!

"I lived in the company of many saintly priests for a month and I learned that, though their dignity raises them above the angels, they are nevertheless weak and fragile men. If holy priests, whom Jesus in his Gospel calls the salt of the earth show in their conduct their extreme need for prayers, what is to be said of those who are tepid? Didnt Jesus say too:'If the salt loses its savour, wherewith will it be salted?'" (Matt 5:13).
Thanks Askel, More good food for thought, love to here more about the other passage if you can find it.

Thanks for posting this. Here is a prayer of St. Theresa
Prayer of Our Love for God Alone
My God,
you know that I have always desired
to love you alone.
I seek no other glory.
Your love has preceded me
from the time of my childhood,
become greather with my youth,
and is presently an abyss
whose depth I cannot fathom.
