Not an answer to your question, but rather a pointer to a superb online collection of hymns.

So you can listen to your favorites in the office.

Okay I don't know the name of this one but the refrain is,

And I will raise you up!

And I will raise you up!

And I will raise you up on the last day!

And there's this song in Spanish called Resucitó. I don't really even know the translation but it sounds almost like a bullfighting song and you clap and there's a trumpet solo. It's just so uplifting!!

How great though art, There is power in Blood, Amazing grace, In the Garden, Recue the pairishing, Pslam 19, Oh there are so many great hymns my brother.

I got saved in a modern church called the Vineyard. There music was like the world. I not miss there rock contemperary stuff. The old hymns are the bast they say what need to be said. I like it when churches sing the whole song and not just a few verses.

Pleace pray for me and my Famaily we have not been good stuarts with our money and now we are getting behind in our bills. We are attempting to get our house in order but need GOD help. "The Morrisons"

I lead part of the worship music at my church. We do a more contemporary praise song at the beginning, and then the rest are hymns. I really like 'Tis So Sweet (to Trust in Jesus). I like a lot of other hymns as well, but I can't remember the names of them. It's only been in the last few years that I've been a regular church attender, so I'm still learning all the songs that my friends and family have been singing for decades.

Regarding children's songs, we have several tapes we play in the car and in the stereo at home for the kids. They're 4, 2 and 8 months, and the older two know all the songs word for word. I firmly believe that teaching them these songs now will help them in their walk later in life. How many of us have songs from our youth that bring back images and feelings? Songs stick with you forever:)

We add the word "One" before the word 'God', when singing "Holy,Holy,Holy".

ie.,....... "One God in Three Persons".......blessed Trinity!

Works well, and is "Sound Doctrine".

What are some of the favorite hymns from in your church. I'm not talking about contemporary praise muzak, so-called "Christian Rock" or a bunch of grown men in robes moaning. I'm talking about real hymns sung from an old-fashioned songbook.

"Do not say, 'Why is it that the former days were better than these?' For it is not from wisdom that you ask about this." Ecclesiastes 7:10

Yes, there were great hymns. But there were also dull and unpopular ones as well, just as there is great praise music being created today, even though you might not be exposed to it. Try Matt Redman, he is one of my favorite writers and singers; also I defy anyone to listen to "Before the Throne of God above" by Vikki Cook (copyright 1997) without getting the chills.

Matthew 26:30 says that Jesus and His disciples sang a hymn before they went out to Gethsemane. Do you ever think that the Christians of about 300 A.D ever said to themselves, "The music today isn't like what it was in Jesus' time. Just give my Jesus' old fashioned songbook, it's good enough of me."

Just a thought.
