***Is it not the Lord who purne His vineyard, By what authority does a stranger have in trying to hewd down one of the trees in the Lord vineyard?***

I have no idea what you are talking about. However, Mormonism is not the Lord's Vineyard. It is spiritual Kudzu. Joseph Smith is a stranger pretending to be the Gatekeeper of a fictional Celestial Kingdom, and inventing the false ordinances of Celestial Marriage and Proxy Baptism which lead people to a false hope!

It is the authority of the Bible, which he changed at will and added to, that will condemn Him.

Your defense of his perogative to change the Bible and call it a translation makes you a follower of the stranger reeking havoc in the vineyard. Your claim to be a 'god in embryo form' is the height of audacity and a violation of the First Commandment.

***the puerile mass marketing tool***
you describe was a gospel tract giving the biblical basis of the gospel and pointing you to Jesus, not Joseph, as the Savior. Would you like me to tell the author of the tract that you think his gospel tract is puerile? I've known him for 30 years and I imagine he would be grieved that you reject the gospel in order to follow Joseph Smith.

Hey, if there's something going on between the two of you, please keep it private. We don't need to know. This is a religious thread, for heaven's sake!

Inquisition, the Crusades

What sect or denomination is credited (for a lack of a better word) with the Inquisition and Crusades?

So Islam has more in common with Judaism and other Christian faiths than our church in the sense that you all don't believe in modern revelation from prophets, we, on the other hand do.

Very interesting. I'm not at all familiar with Mormonism but would be very interested in reading about some modern revolations.

Is there somewhere I can go to read about these revolations? Short of attending a church service or having a study with someone?

But what about the ending of the Law of Moses, one day it's taboo to eat pork, the next day God says it's OK.

An excellent point.

Wasn't a very clear distinction made in the scriptures regarding the old and new covenent?

Is there such a distinction made by Smith or others regarding the new covenent and the revelations brought by the Mormons?

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

I've always thought of this passage as a strong argument against those who would have a strong faith but hide from the world. Speaking of those like monks or others who would seperate themselves from the world in a physical sense.

There are many works that the scriptures tell us we must do and physically seperating ourselves from the world limits our ability to perform tese works.

An example might be the great commision.

"... no man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith ..."

This is a different gospel. Whereas JESUS, Peter, Paul, John, Luke, Matthew, and Mark all state that entrance is gained into the kingdom of God through JESUS alone, ... here Joseph has added HIMSELF to the process.

If this is a actual 'revelation' from Joseph Smith then it is perfectly clear to ME that Mormonism is a false religion.

Would someone on who is a member of LDS please tell me if this is a valid quote.

Please quote the post you are referring to. Kinda hard to follow sometimes without the quote.

Thanks!

Try D&C 132:51. This is where Joseph tells his wife, Emma, to accept his other wives or face eternal destruction.

Or Declaration 2 where they finally let black guys be priests despite the fact that the Book of Mormon (2 Nephi 5:21) tells us that God turns people's skin black so they won't be delightsome like the white folk!

Well, I see drstevej got to this before I did, but this statement also jumped out at me:

"Joseph will be held accountable for his ministry here on the earth, he will answer to God"

True statement.

"and report who did and who did not accept him, and that report will be an important factor in the outcome of each person in this dispensation"

Oh, I think God will already know who "did and did not" accept Joseph Smith. Somehow, I don't think He will need Joseph Smith's "report" as a factor in the outcome of each person. By the time we all are called to give an account of ourselves before God, I think the "outcome" of each of us will have already been decided.

If Joseph Smith is the gatekeeper to the kingdom you enter, you better have some sunscreen with a SPF of at least 3,000,000! Not this wimpy stuff!
