This is REALLY significant. Somerville is a "name," and one to be reckoned with. My vague recollection is that he was also quite involved in music. He composed many of the Mass settings and some of the hymns in Catholic Book of Worship, the CCCB's official hymnal.
With this letter to the SSPX, he will probably become an unperson in the Canadian Church.
