BUT I do believe in the providence of God and that He is in control. He knows the end from the beginning...May it mean the "death " of this nation? It may well..but that then is in Gods design

If one is going to reduce the matter to theology, let us not forget that the Catholic tradition has always allowed that the state has an foundation independent of that of the Church. In short, in some matters, the state is the competent authority. The role of the pope is what it has always been traditionally, as arbitrator. If one ruler is obviously weaker, then he has the obligation to accept the best possible terms and that would include humiliation. He does not have a natural right to hold on to power, and when he cannot be removed by some other means, say of regular vote of the people, then he can expect only his own person safety.

I am mostly just a lowly lurker and post only on occasion. However, I have to agree that a lot of anti-Catholicism is allowed to stand in this forum, which is the perfect right of the forum's owner.

I avoid the Never Ending Story thread because of the anti-Catholics who frequent there and the rhetoric the moderators allow. However, after al_c posted about the moderator doing some clean-up work I did a check. Yes, a poster was reprimanded about a single tag line. But many of the posts there over the last week are just plain nasty. And that thread is just one example.

Yes, it is the privilege of the forum owner, and his right, to allow this type of thing to go on. But that does not mean we must participate. I have had enough and I am taking your advice, Polycarp. I won't be back.

I think the US was once great. But we, all of us, have allowed sin and death to reign. We condone drug use, pornography, divorce, abortion, violence, slothfulness, envy, and greed. In short we have allowed our country to turn it's back on God and soon God will turn his back on our country.

I'm not an America basher. But America has joined the rest of the world in it's moral spurning of God. We had a leader, Bill Clinton, getting blowjobs and whatever else while in office and while married and our other leaders and the press, and a large part of the people winked and nodded at it. Does anyone truly believe God is going to bless any more of our undertakings after that?
