That the Vatican Latins (the Orthodox also embrace the Greek word Catholic) are slightly less heretical than the Protestants does not negate that they also broke from the
One Holy Catholic Apostolic Church.
It was the Latins who added "innovations" to orthodox tradition. For example, under what authority did the the Pope change the Nicean creed? Who gave the Latins the authority to change unilaterally what the whole church through her Apostolicly determined bishops had canonized?

You may not have noticed that what you consider the orthodox faith includes many doctrines that the Lutherans consider innovations, for instance the perpetual virginity of Our Lady and the invocation of the saints.
