The Church died after the first century to the Sola Scripturan's and only revived when they converted or their sect was founded.

i.e., "the Bible" comes from the Church of bishops, the Eucharist, the Creed, church councils, apostolic succession, etc.

IOW, the Catholic Church.

LOL, another "former Catholic from the sixties" who in trying to to make his point makes the humiliating admission that he believed in the power of a statue or bead.

The point is that Jesus saved me, friend. Not Mary or "holy mother church". JESUS. I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. As long as I please Him that's all that matters. If this offends you, HE offends you.

I don't think Catholics would disagree with you. It's just that you aren't going to find His whole Truth elsewhere. Only in the Church.

Oy vey, who's offended!?!

I won't find His whole truth until I'm in heaven. Until then, He has sent His Holy Spirit of truth to lead me and guide me into all truth. His "Church", of whom He is head, is His Church. Not Roman or Lithuanian or Greek. They know His voice and they press and strive to enter into His holy presence. They do hear Him and, they follow Him.

It appears I was wrong anticipating you relinquishing ground in the exchange - even after posting links to the stark differences twixt a Sacramental and a talisman.

Oh well, I have been wrong before. You have made it clear you will not admit you could have chosen a different word (say nothing about offering an apology for introducing talisman into the thread)and so I agree with you there is no benefit to be gained in a further exchange.

As a final comment, the reason I told you what I hear when you use the, incorrect in this case, Talismam word is that I think it Christian to let another know how their actions affect others; in this case me.

I see that for you, at least in this case, that is inconsequential. Frankly, I find your response boorish in that you insist on the correctness of your actions so vigorously you, at least to me, appear to ignore the complaints of those who find your actions offensive.

You are wrong to use talisman to describe how Christians use Sacramentals and my posting of the statements of the Saints illustrate Christians have been right about this for 2000 years and your personal opinion is ahistorical, false, and nasty.

Num 19:1-22 Material objects were the instruments of legal cleanliness as sacramentals are instruments for the forgiveness of venial sins. Material results were obtained under the old law and spiritual results are obtained under the new law.

There is also the Blood on the side-posts and upper-door posts at Passover (Exodus 12) as an example of preventing evil from occuring.

Well, that may be. But, if you've got those ugly buggars in your legs, I hear they can do miraculous things with lasers nowadays. :)

Ha Ha Ha.

I once had a friend who told me his Mom was going to have surgery.

"Why?" I asked

"She has very close veins."

True story

***Pretty insulting of you to liken crucifixes and Star of David necklaces to lucky rabbit's feet.***

Would you say that about a trinket of Great Diana of the Ephesians?

Back in the 1960's the pope downgraded some of the saints.
A newspaper reporter in Vietnam saw a soldier with his hand wrapped around a St.Christopher medal and said said to the soldier, "The pope says St Christopher dosen't count anymore."
The soldier replied, "The pope ain't over here getting his a$$ shot off.

Would your faith in God, His Son and the Holy Ghost be any less if you had no images, icons, paintings or statues to focus on?

Not a bit. Would your faith be any less if you did not own a Bible?

......Ignorance of the law, excuses no one.

You will never know what are the laws if you don’t have the reference.
