Morning Colonel_Flagg. The Foxholers seem to always have a pretty good showing at the Taginus Republicus thread.

Y'all come on down to sunny Arizona, we've got lots of room and good ranges for practicing your rifle marksmanship.

Already did! September 6th the wife and I drove down to Tucson for the LSU vs Arizona game. Wildcat Stadium turned into one hell of a firing range! ;o)

The M1 Garand was arguably the most respected service rifle in US history, and a veritable library of books has been written about it.

However, this is the only book that tells the complete, in-depth story of the rarest Garands of them all: the initial 80 Model Shop rifles, made under the personal supervision of John Garand himself in 1934 and 1935; and the first 50,000+ production "gas trap" M1s, made between August, 1937 and August, 1940.

There were only three men who knew all the intimate details of the highly classified M1 project: John Garand; his Chief Model Maker, J R "Red" Stimson; and Art Tuttle, John Garand's personal "Troubleshooter". The respected Garand authority Billy Pyle was fortunate enough to be befriended by the latter, and this groundbreaking study is the result.

I don't even own a rifle. I'm a shotgunner. I shoot the Shotgun Sports. I do have 5 handguns. 1 of which is a Springfield Mil-Spec 1911-A1.

Springfield Mil-Spec 1911-A1

BUT,,I have thought long and hard about buying a Springfield M1 Garand. :))

Springfield M1 Garand

Maybe someday,,,,,,,

I wish they'd make the military M-14 available. I'd scarf one up.

You wouldn't be willing to part with one would you?

I gave the extra to my dad. I'll see if I can find out how attached he still is to it.

Why do I think he'll be real attached to it?

LOL! I think you don't want to be on the pointy end.

I dunno if he really likes having it, or whether he's just hanging on to it to be polite. Once or twice I've dropped by to catch him in his garage stripping & cleaning it, & we've gone to the range with it together on one occasion.

Dad's a marine. Until I gave him this one hadn't handled an M1 since leaving the Corps.

Good morning to everyone~!

A different foxhole lesson this morning! But it was interesting, and all the posts here are really great, too. My dad wanted so badly to teach me to shoot a rifle, and I got very good at 'missing' the squirrels and deer. My brother is awesome, though, a crack shot, and as a result we still enjoy the results of his hunting trips.

I just want whatever our military uses to be extremely reliable and accurate. And for Americans to always protect their God-given right to own personal weapons.

Afternoon Waterdragon. I never got into hunting either. I do like to shoot though.

I'll admit I couldn't hunt either, not as long as there is a grocery store on the corner, but I do love to go shoot non-living targets.

Of course there are some living ones I wouldn't hesitate to take out if needed. It's good to at least know how to shoot and be comfortable with a weapon, imho.
