Wonderful read about perhaps the greatest and boldest invasion ever by America. D-Day was the beginning of the end for Hitler. I read in Brokaw's "Greatest Generation" that Saint-Lo, a small Normandy city just a few miles from Omaha Beach, was not taken by American troops until mid-July.
Oooops! I should have done a "Foxhole Search" you guys have probably already provided an depth historical analysis of this very point. ;o)
