Thanks Feather. I miss hearing John Wayne. :-(
Yes, he was a true American.
I believe 4 was the SOP for taking n the Tiger.
Arabs and Tanks do not work,
I always enjoyed reading about the results in the early Arab/Israeli wars where Israel ended up rearming and using all the captured Arab tanks.
or..use them to make movies : )
Filmed in Israel...whoo hoo this is a good movie!
Review:For the longest time now, without really knowing why, The Beast has been on one of my favorite movies. There's something about the way director Kevin Reynolds captures and maintains the feeling of danger and isolation throughout that makes for an experience that is easy to get taken in by. Jason Patrick and Geroge Dzundza deliver powerful performances, supported by great work from Stephen Baldwin, Steven Bauer and all of the secondary cast. As odd as it may sound that the names listed above could be jointly responsible for a really good movie, that is the case with The Beast.
That is a great flick, I have a copy of it.
When you're wounded an' left on Afghanistan's plains,
An' the women come out to cut up what remains,
Jest roll to your rifle an' blow out your brains
An' go to your Gawd like a soldier.

Daskal (Tank Commander): Out of commission, become a pillbox. Out of ammo, become a bunker. Out of time, become heroes.

Koverchenko: Well, sir, the roadwheel's cracked. Kaminski drank our brakes. We're low on petrol. The battery's low. We're losing oil. If the engine heats up it's gonna seize. The terrain, obviously against us. We have no rations. The Mujas behind us don't seem to run on rations, petrol, or anything we know of. And they have an RPG. Their aim is getting better. Sir.

Hi Phil!!
Great info on tanks. Love the last graphic! LOL
Glad you have this movie.
Had a Furnace clean recently..it was a Russkie..and he had been in Afghanistan.
We had a great chat..he was very knowledgable about other nations military assets.
Asked him.."So what was it like to be sitting in a T-72 or BMP..all bottlenecked up in some Afghani canyon in the searing heat"?
I saw the look in his eyes...he had indeed been in Afghanistan.
he bounced back well after the question...cracked jokes about officers.: )
Morning Phil Dragoo.
I read that C-17 Gunship link earlier. Interesting idea and reasoning behind it.
Love the T-72 /A-10 picture. That's a keeper!
Been trying all morning to rid Snippy's puter of a trojan. :-( I'd love to knee-cap the bastards who come up with this crap.
Snippy never saw "The Beast" so it's on our to watch list for tomorrow night.
