Howdy, Alpha6.
Could be you are up, poor soul!
That B-25 in RAF "livery" is set up as a 5th Air Force style gun ship, I see. Interesting.
I hear that a .50 would penetrate the conning tower of a VIIC with the right ammunition. Good old API, quite common in those days. Should be a three quarter meter radar antenna, or the later centimeter gear in that case, though.

I recall naval fire was indeed considered more horrible than bombing by the Wehrmacht infantry.
As you got beyond eight miles in only 8" or larger would reach, 268 pound projectiles as I recall. Then there were some 11" cruisers, and what, six British and American battlewagons? For about five miles the 5" fire (no joke, that, 68 pound projectiles, maybe) could put about fifty tubes on target within a minute, about, well, if they were in the right place!! Six rounds a minute each.
Old technology, sure. Good stuff.
Accurately, too, of course.

1862 Gen Turner Ashby is killed near Harrisonburg, VA A great reconnaissance man. Under-appreciated. Was Stonewall's eyes and ears (after they got to trust each other).

Ah, the Iron Lady, and Mr. Thatcher.
Named my middle girl Margaret. I hoped with that name she would grow up to be of good character. So far, so good.

The U.S. feared a major Arab-Israeli and superpower confrontation and asked Israel to delay military action pending a diplomatic resolution of the crisis. Not the United States. Just that thing Lyndon Johnson.
The English used to have a custom of digging up the bodies of especially worthy people and hanging them. Really, a very nice custom.

Naval gunfire could also be sustained a lot longer than aerial bombbardment.
