WOW! Someone stuck a B-17 Nose on a B-24!

I wonder how this "adaptation" handled in the air? The later model B-24s with the Emerson Tail turret that had been grafted onto the nose were known for wallowing about. Also I read somewhere that the nose turrets caused a small decrease in performance.

In looking at a few websites I did not see anything to confirm the above views but I will admit to not looking very hard.

Back to work I must go, got a few small projects to get wrapped up this weekend.

Regards

ATTN FREEPERS!

I've tested both of these 100% free services.
In a nut shell just "right click" on any pic
(as long as it is not copyrighted or adult content)
you see on the internet and save it to your hard drive,
then use either service and upload it to either free image server.
You'll see the linking url, which you can hotlink, and YOU can post it on FR!

Click on either image to visit their website.

Mr. Howell, or the Professor?

Oh boy, what a choice. I'd have to get off the island.

Sounds like another subject for a thread.

And you'll start working on them soon right. :-)

Those are good ideas. Ya'll keep 'em coming.

Howdy ma'am.

BTW, the coconut radio might get you off the island. A burnt $100 bill won't help much.

That's true, the money would do no good.

Howdy, Valin,

Never really thought to research the subject, looks pretty hard to get at. I have just seen a few sentences here and there on the Pacific War, and a little more on Europe. Okumiya talks about "long range four engine bombers" being the real intelligence problem for the Japanese, and as I recollect B17s were rare in the Pacific in the later years of the war. Not long enough range and needed in Europe.

Mostly I have read some and deduced a little of electronic intelligence aircraft methods and tactics, and can sometimes "fill in the gaps" in otherwise incomplete accounts. Stories here and there, then connect the dots.

I know this thread is very old but if someone is very familiar with the structure of the B-24 airframe can they please send a message to me? I am building a cross sectional display model of this plane and could use some help understanding certain parts of the inside details.
