The FReeper Foxhole - Veterans Day Thank You - November 11th, 2007
11/11/2007 | SAMWolf and Snippy about it

Posted on 11/10/2007 7:17:47 PM PST by snippy_about_it

Lord,

Keep our Troops forever in Your care

Give them victory over the enemy...

Grant them a safe and swift return...

Bless those who mourn the lost.
.

FReepers from the Foxhole join in prayer
for all those serving their country at this time.

...................................................................................... ...........................................

U.S. Military History, Current Events and Veterans Issues

Where Duty, Honor and Country
are acknowledged, affirmed and commemorated.

Our Mission:

The FReeper Foxhole is dedicated to Veterans of our Nation's military forces and to others who are affected in their relationships with Veterans.

In the FReeper Foxhole, Veterans or their family members should feel free to address their specific circumstances or whatever issues concern them in an atmosphere of peace, understanding, brotherhood and support.

The FReeper Foxhole hopes to share with it's readers an open forum where we can learn about and discuss military history, military news and other topics of concern or interest to our readers be they Veteran's, Current Duty or anyone interested in what we have to offer.

If the Foxhole makes someone appreciate, even a little, what others have sacrificed for us, then it has accomplished one of it's missions.

We hope the Foxhole in some small way helps us to remember and honor those who came before us.

Veterans Day

To our veterans - Thank You

Today is a day set aside to honor our country's living veterans. At the Foxhole honoring veterans has always been our mission.

We will not forget those who died or our POWs or MIAs, nor those currently serving, however, today we specifically honor those men and women living among us who have served our country in times past, our living veterans.

At the Foxhole we are blessed to have veterans as part of our Foxhole family both as readers and contributors.

We would like to welcome all our veterans to the Foxhole on this very special day as we attempt to honor you and thank you for your service to our country.

Freedom is not free and our debt to you and those gone before you can never fully be paid. As we tell your stories, teach our children, educate and inform others your service will never be forgotten.

It matters not where, when or how you served; at home or in a foreign land, in the air, at sea or on land; in peacetime or in war, on the battefield or behind a desk; on supply lines; as an engineer, a mechanic, an infantrymen, a cook or medic. You chose to volunteer or fullfilled your duty by the draft and served America and we are forever grateful. Every job is important as they all support each other and thus, the cause of freedom.

Some sacrifices are greater, yes, and some service more dangerous than others, yet all service is sacrifice by the troop and their family and we highly respect that service.

Thank you all. May God richly bless you. Enjoy yourself today, it's your day! - from SAMWolf, Snippy and our entire Foxhole family.

And for those who don't quite understand how important our veterans are to us...

Home Improvement was one show that all of us enjoyed watching together. They just don’t make good television shows like that anymore. And it was soooooooo funny.

OMG, I don’t know if I should tell you about hubby’s Tim Taylor moment or not.

Hobbit Lass wanted some signs for her Halloween cookout. They were 8 bucks a piece. I said that was silly. We had a bunch of scrap wood and she and her dad could make them for free. (We had already spent bucks on cobwebs, bones, bloody fingers, and a fog machine.)

So I’m upstairs and hobbit lass comes flying into the house. Dad’s hurt! He got himself in the leg with the circular saw. Of course, it was the saw’s fault, not his for being stupid.

Well, I have no idea how much those “free signs” ended up costing us because the emergency room bill isn’t here yet. And yes, I asked the ER doc if he had any spare limbs for my daughter’s Halloween party. :^

Hubby was lucky; he could’ve really done a number on himself.

How’s your leg doing?

He’s healing up nicely. He’ll be the butt of Tim Taylor jokes for a while though.

How’s your leg and the therapy?

Ok. Not bad enough to keep from going to work.

My physical therapist wants 8 more visits. Ugh.

I can’t seem to go down steps when I lead with my non-broken leg. The broken yet healing leg doesn’t want to bend forward at the ankle.

Doc say it’s just going to take more time!!!!!

I’m blessed though so no whining from me. ;-)

Eight visits is a lot. I hope you are better at doing the exercises than hobbit lass. I had to nag her. I can’t see SAM nagging you.

LOL. You’re right, Sam wouldn’t know if I was doing them or not. Ok, so maybe I’m not doing them as often as I could.... Dang, you’re making me feel guilty.

Sam says I’m old enough to do what I want to do, says I know what I need to do so why should he nag.

Why is everyone around me making sense?

I’m posting to myself.

As Daddy used to say, talking to yourself is OK as long as you don't answer.

Seriously though, is your hubby going to be off work for awhile at least? That had to scare the bejeebers out of you.

He was playing hookey from work when he did it. He’d already put in a long week. He spent his day off getting stitched back together.

No, he wasn’t hurt bad enough to miss any more. He even grilled out that evening.
