I did the same. Thx.

Do you or other FReeprs have knowledge of well-established help-our-GIs kinda sites?

I guess I am looking for referrals from FReepers who know from experience, perhaps with family and friends, which .orgs are the ‘good’ ones.

It depends on what type of help you are looking for. My husband is a Vietnam veteran and once belonged to a couple good organizations. VietNow and Amvets.

Of course there are thousands of helpful sites at VA.gov

And depending on where you live, drop by a VFW or Am.Legion location. Finally, again depending on locale, look for 'reunions'. For instance here in Central Florida we've got the annual Vietnam and all Vets reunion. A half million show up nowadays.

As to Blogs and Veterans Groups, Michelle Malkin has a great list here.
