JACKSONVILLE, Fla. The remains of Navy pilot Michael Scott Speicher returned to his Florida home on Thursday, 18 years after his FA-18 Hornet was shot down on the first night of the 1991 Gulf War.
Speicher's remains arrived at the Jacksonville Naval Air Station around 3 p.m. About ten minutes later his coffin was rolled off the plane draped with the U.S. flag. It was to remain at the All Saints Chapel on the base overnight.

Post or FReepmail me if you wish to be enlisted in or discharged from the Navair Pinglist.

I was sorry to hear that he was killed but grateful that he seems to have received a respectful burial by the Bedouins in the desert.

By all means someone post a Navair missing man formation. I would like to steal borrow it for threads such as this. May I never have to post another.

The Bedouins do respect dead human beings irrespective of their country of origin, and sure enough, they gave the 33 year old captain a proper burial where Speicher's remains were interred on Iraqi soil for 18 years. Now finally, he has been brought home to his place of birth and given a final resting place for eternity. Capt. Michael 'Scott' Speicher, USN VFA-81 'Sunliners', CVW-17, USS Saratoga July 12, 1957 - January 17, 1991 (age 33) R.I.P
