My mom went to the ER Monday. Her pneumonia was acting up, chest pains, BP skyrocketed

scary day

so, today = day 3

guy comes in with nebulizer ( industrial Inhaler for those who dont know)

Me and Mom and other nurses in the room were speaking of who would serve as a nurse if veteran, I was "Corpsman would, air force medics, Army medics would be first choices"

so in walks this new guy, high and tight, REAL close, I assumed Corpman! So I asked if he was a corpman

Nope, Sea Going Bell Hop!

huh? What is your MOS?

What is YOUR MOS?

7242, when were you in?

mid 80's, Reagan, what was your E Number?

E Number? WTF is that?

Ya know, E1,E2, E3..

oh, I was an E-5, Sgt, what were you?

he just walked away and I wondered wtf that E-Number ever came from

I kept going: What was your MOS?

3069, Pathfinders, 3 of the 3rd

THREE OF THE THIRD?

3 of the 3rd, the 169th

HUH?

On the USS Inchon, new unit, look it up

huh??

he asked me, Where did I go to school

29 Palms

Oh, the Stumps?

Yeah, where theres a girl behind every tree

he looked stumped, smiled and walked out

I looked to the nurse with him that stayed and told her that every number he said was wrong and he was a liar

She just smiled, said maybe he had a head injury

So, 5 minutes later he came back, said I must have misunderstood him, he repeated he was 3 of the 3rd, the 169th

I said What was your boot camp platoon?

he said huh?

What was your platoon number?

3069! ---the same number as his MOS was supposed to be

What battalion were you in? 4th? 5th? 6th?

I was first battalion!

You were FIRST batalion and your platoon was 3069???

Yeah!

YOU'RE FULL OF SHIT AND YOU'RE A LIAR.

OH? Is that all you have to say to me?

Youre goddamn right!

Well then we're done talking!

My sister was holding her breath next to me, trying to nto set me off. I finished my business with her, saw that my Mom was being taken care of and went to the floor supervisor

I only talked to the head nurse, explained it all. The guy was a good reputation for his job, but that head nurse said he himself was a grunt. I asked him to report the guy to his boss to be checked

THEN I went to patient relations in the main building and had a nice short conversation with them in a direct order trying to not vibrate that this asshole poser works on my Mom!

I told her to force this guy to present a DD-214 and to check his credentials, explained the basics of the stolen valor act and to review whether he is receiving any special bennies due to 'veteran status'

I gave her my rescue attempt website to contact me, and had to walk out before I launched.

Satisfaction: it smells good, but I have a burning pit in my gut that this asshole worked on my mom and he may be totally phony.

Oh, I also insisted this loser NEVER be allowed to work on my Mom again.

I don’t understand! I’ve heard of people faking service to look good in pictures and get veteran benefits and whatnot but this guy did it to get a job at a hospital?

I usually just blow off people who said they were in the Corps who I know never were. I've only met one or two.

Some want to pretend to be what they never were, while I spent much of my term in the Corps wishing I'd never signed up.

There, I said it.

It sounds like he may be a RT and he may very well be licensed as one but is lying about his military background.....just the same, he may a legit RT (I use that term loosely) but lying about his background is a huge concern because what other compromises does he easily make on the job......BTW, glad you did not sit on this, I hope the people that need to will investigate this How is mom doing?

After my 83 yo Dad was out of a 22 hour surgery to repair a 6 inch tear in his aorta, I went in to see him for the few minutes they allowed. He was with this middle aged Okie nurse with little teddy bears on her shirt. She was trying to comb his hair and was talking baby talk to him. Every time she said something, he reached up and pushed her arms away from him. He was so insulted by the baby talk.

I went to the head nurse and said I NEVER wanted to see that woman near him again. They complied.

Sorry you had to go through that. It’s bad enough to have a loved one in the hospital, but then you have to be subjected to the substandard help.

I know a lot of nurses I wouldn’t want working on me. God bless your mom.

As far as I know there are only two divisions that have Pathfinder brigades and they are both Army. The 101st and the 82nd.

I was stationed at Ft. Campbell KY for 4 years and I never heard of any 169th or whatever he said....

Sorry for that comment, jokes aside, I hope he did his job and that your mom is fine. The other stuff is irrelevant if he’s competnet, at least can wait.

Does the hospital offer preferred hiring to veterans? Once the ruse is used to gain entry, it has to be maintained.

I’m a vet and probably would’t be able to answer 90% of those questions you asked; certainly not 20 years out of service.

MOS Number? Hell if I know.

This has nothing at all to do with your post. Good on you for turning the guy in.
I have a question -00
Didn’t you used to be a freeper way back and then had a parting of the ways with the Mods or am I thinking of someone else.

A veteran gets extra points towards federal jobs...

Several jobs, like veteran representative offices only hire veterans..

Then it means this asshat cheated a deserving veteran out of a job posting. Throw the book at him.
