Another thing to remember is that kamikaze gave the Japanese the greatest destruction of American ships and morale and men for each aircraft and pilot lost. Kamikaze was, for the Japanese, actually the least wasteful tactic in terms of man and machine. It saved Japanese lives, not wasted them. Harsh and difficult, but true.
Me, I prefer smart bombs, unless we could get Bill and Hillary, et al., to be our guided bomb pilots!
